Man you east coasters are so soft. I'm glad to be part of the vastly superior west coast of the united states. we are tougher than that. We eat 5.9s for breakfast.
go back to liking the sox/yankees, talking funny, being rude, shooting our much better rappers, and overdressing to eat frickin mcdonalds.

Hopefully, it really isn't a prelude to a New Madrid/Yellowstone event. That cluster in Golden is a little concerning, but then I'm no seismologist, either.

Everybody knows that Biggie was way better than Tupac.

Am about 25 miles from the epicentre here. At first I thought I was feeling a bit queasy because I hadn't had lunch yet but then I felt the rumble go through the building for quite a long time, a good 20 seconds or so. I rushed out of my office and saw everyone standing around not quite sure what to do. At first I thought it was a local tremor but a few people were on IM with others across Virginia and they said they felt it too.
I quickly checked the USGS website and it showed the epicentre remarkably close and surprised to see it listed as a 5.8! Never felt anything beyond minor tremors before.
Also had another quite strong aftershock this evening, a 4.8 I believe, that rattled some plates on the wall at home.

People aren't scared, it's just something unusual here.

"It's all gone Pete Tong" is actually a phrase in Europe, England I believe. Pretty sure that's where Pete Tong got his DJ name from as well.
“i was just nearly crushed by minimal synth vinyl” FUCK. Will try harder next time

Small earthquake just hit the Bay Area an hour ago.
The U.S. Geological Service says a magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck at about 11:36 p.m. PDT on Tuesday. The quake was centered about six miles southeast of Oakland and was also felt by people across the bay in San Francisco.
USGS geophysicist Carrie Ann Bedwell says the magnitude of the temblor carries little risk of damage.
The quake comes at the end of a day in which a magnitude 5.8 earthquake jolted much of the eastern United States, the strongest to hit that region in decades.
