Flying and maintaining planes isn't 1 of the things you are good at. It sucks that your planes are crap. I wouldn't want any of my comrades to ignore how crappy their planes are and end up on the news further proving my point.

there are 130 privatized aviation companies in russia, 85% of all flights are completed by 10 major ones, the remaining 15% are small sized companies that own 2-3 planes max. They mostly do vip or local flights. All recent crashes including the last one were by these small companies, not the major 10. It is obvious the smaller companies are either not maintaining the planes properly or don't have appropriate people working on board of those planes because someone made an error. According to officials those 15% will most likely get shutdown in the next year.

Yeah Trance...

Long story short, small companies or not, Russia allowed this to happen so it doesn't really make a difference. Its to bad it took and entire Hockey team to make a change.

Just to go back on your earlier comment... Russia for sure has more plane fatalities then any other "developed" country over the past 10 years. The fact that you wanted me to compare it to a cumulative world crash number says something. So ya in that case you are right, Russia has less air related fatalities then the entire world combined over the past 10 years GJ! voila un biscuit! LA!

How could you hate on me after I praised the women, dill, and perogies. 3 compliments to 1 insult

how's a crash a year the highest record, anywhere? I still do not see any solid proof, statistics or anything else backing what you're saying atm

and yes thank you for the dill compliments, you're funny!

either way, I'd like to point out that the problem is on a much more global level, it doesn't start or end at the age/condition of the planes unfortunately

also interestingly enough no one here blamed the pilots just yet.. another forum I frequent, that's all they've been talking about - assuming the pilots were drunk or incompetent..

O rly?

The top ten safest airlines in the world are mostly based in the U.S. or Europe, according to a report from the Air Transport Rating Agency. Six of the 10 safest airlines -- AMR's American Airlines and American Eagle connection, Continental, Delta, Southwest, United and US Airways -- are based in the U.S. The three safest European carriers were Air France-KLM, British Airways and Lufthansa. Japan Airlines is the safest carrier in Asia, the report said.

The Geneva-based agency said it compared publicly available data on 100 on the world's largest airlines and winnowed the list down using 15 different criteria, including fleet age, pilot training facilities, and the number of accidents during the past 10 years.

Now stop embarrassing yourselves and take your misplaced nationalism elsewhere.

If you're flying on an international airline, you're going to be safe. I'll give each person that's already posted here $100 if they die while flying on an international airline of any nationality. So rest assured.

Here's a list of worlwide causes of death by odds, with the most likely at the top:

Cardiovascular diseases
Infectious_and_parasitic diseases
Ischemic heart disease
Malignant_neoplasms_(cancers)
Cerebrovascular disease_(Stroke)
Respiratory infections
Lower respiratory tract infections
Respiratory diseases
Unintentional injuries
HIV/AIDS

See flying on there? It's because truth be told not many people die from it. So ya your odds might be higher on a Russian airline than a North American one, but that's still not very high. Peeps need to stop being pussies about it.
