not really into the bells and whistles...I think it is somewhat of a pointless expense for this type of club, because dancers will not make the gate bigger. it makes no sense to add extra overhead to operations costs if it doesn't help make more $$$. in a booze club it would work better, because guys will spend more at a bar if there are half naked women gyrating.

i wonder how much club dancers get paid...especially the ones in ibiza (they must get ALOT, considering it is the party capital of world, but who knows...) i was so excited to see some solid choreography & all i got was girls who looked anorexic & addicted to meth at space, ibiza...

...the cocoon dancers at amnesia were cool, in sync w/ each other, solid moves, costumes were incredible, etc...but i believe they are chosen by sven's team, not the club's administration.

some good ones at the Guv and Red Lite and Beach Club Ibiza but it's meaningless if the music and/or crowd is lame. I saw a dancer at Stereo one Sat when I was dragged there, I think it was maybe in April for Angel Moraes but the dancer was male and flamboyant

Pacha in NYC had some dancers but Stereo is much better club, even without the dancers.

The coolest entertainment I've seen there by far was the Massive laser Stereo Reboot for Black and Blue Weekend 2009 -Danny Howells 09 / Victor Calderone 09. Super trippy to see! 2 years come and go sooo quickly....time for me to hang up the shoes!

It's all about creating a memorable customer experience. Starts with purchasing your ticket and ends with a smile from the doorman who opens the door when you exit. In that sense, adding entertainment is not pointless if it adds value to the overall experience, and for some people that stuff is important. Same thing for decorations.

I agree, but it is pointless if you are not making money. let's say you hire dancers for a Friday and 200 people show up. you are giving the people more entertainment, but your bottom line will suffer because of it. the money is better spent on marketing to build a larger client base than adding frills to a half empty club.

you guys charge for tapis rouge...if you didn't the clients would find it memorable, but your accountants not so much right?

let's use the Habs as a broad example. in the late 90's and early 00's they were not very profitable (albeit the cdn $ also plays into this) and the building was never full. at that time the team started investing a huge amount into marketing and expanded it's sales force by almost 150%. A bigger effort was also made on the non hockey division ensuring exta revenues for the team/building. When gilette bought the team he took the marketing to the next level which allowed for a big enough revenue stream to add bells and whistles like the multi million dollar hd big screen and other improvements to heighten the hockey experience. had all these extras been done during struggles, the profit scheme would not have been as successful as it is right now and the franchise would not be as healthy. it goes so far as the product on the ice...look at the team salaries from that time compared to the rest of the NHL...without the asses in the seats or the huge rds rights contract that they got later on, the team would not be able to spend up to the cap like it does today.

while they are different sectors of entertainment, the successful business models in entertainment are surprisingly similar. it is important to add value with providing a memorable experience, but not at a long term loss.

market first, obtain steady clientele, then you can add the extras to justify a higher price. memorable experiences are nothing if no one is there to witness them....and from what I've been hearing there has been insane amounts of dance floor space at times.

the club is smart to cut things like this, and should probably only spring for the added entertainment at well sold events to go after repeat business. if you do it just because , it is essentially like throwing darts blindly and hoping you leave with your shirt.

(lol im obviously kidding)

dancers are a nice touch but like many have said u need a big night to make it worth it... i dont think youd book them w a local dj line up (but maybe Im wrong)

Black Mohawk has some great dancing girls A+

haha so it changed a lot in space since I was there (dancers were nice, not the meth heads anorexic type...)

thanks god this drug is not as much in europe than in canada... the only aggressive people I saw in afterhours clubs were people on meth.

also yeah would be nice to see some dancers in Stereo on the big big events.

Jay I agree with a lot of what you said but very often the companies that differentiate themselves are the ones who see these pricy extras as an investmemt rather than an expense. You need to put the customer first and focus on the experience. Entertainment is not the only thing a club can offer to create a great experience. There are several other little things that can make a huge difference. Someone talked about the themed nights...that is not too hard to do. You need decoration, a special flyer, and promo....add a bit of magic and BOOM you've got a hyped up happening weekend at your club because girls get to use your theme as an excuse to dress up in sexy costumes. It's about getting people more involved emotionnaly with the event, interact with them, find a way to make them play a big part in the experience they will have in your club. If they participate more they will create a stronger connection with other people in there as well as with the venue itself.

It's one thing to focus on sales and marketing but your product needs to be fun right now so that people will repeat...not in one or two years!

Your Habs example is good though cauz I can think of another club that went through a similar phase... It is now enjoying a new sound system..!

fair play.

I'm a sales guy, you are a happy people specialist (if you still are doing that).

I work in numbers, you work in smiles

both are needed.
