The peak of rave culture just about everywhere was in the late 90s - it was something that went beyond our local political leaders.

Also, the early to mid 90s when "true" warehouse parties were arguably at their peak (as opposed to ones in arenas, convention centres, and massive nightclubs that were more common in the later 90s) and there was no opposition to them, Toronto's mayor was the very-left wing Barbara Hall, the province was governed by Bob Rae's NDP, and Chretien's Liberals were in power federally.

...however, this is just a coincidence. These are simply the result of societal cultural trends that also coincided with global economic trends (which gave us the wealth of abandoned/under-utilized warehouse space), not a result of the leanings of local or national political leaders. To attempt to link things you like with politicians/political parties you like (or vice versa) based on the coincidences of who is in power at the time is pure partisan grandstanding & opportunism.

Lets also talk about Vaughan and his past influence on the police board and the executive committee. The homeless shelter put in the middle of the entertainment district. Ask any club owner or party promoter and they will fill you in. Oh and the sidewalk tax they tried to put into place.

Okay, so thats the club district. We're not talking about the club district. Your original post was specifically about non-club parties (and how Miller was to blame for "cracking down" on them).

Also thanks to miller, you can no longer advertise for nightclubs on the streets (i wish someone would challenge this illegal bylaw in the supreme court)

I'm pretty sure you just made these up, considering new clubs have opened up (even in Adam Vaughn's ward, no less) and I still see no shortage of club ads covering the streets. That, and the fact that I can't find mention of these from any news source or political source.

Likewise, what changes to bylaws has Ford made to make it easier to host parties in unlicensed venues like this one? Uh, none? Sounds about right - once again we see that political leaders have little to do with trends in nightlife.

Funny how that goes. Carl had just won the DJmag poll of best DJ two years running, and completed an Essential Mix world tour. I guess everybody is noob at some point!

Yep, that was it! Dose and Syrous teamed up again to bring you that party. This was the largest rave I was ever apart of, I think the total head count was 15,000ish. I spent the whole time Carl played right beside him handing him water bottles every 10-15 minutes, the guy was sweating up a STORM!!!! Was a pretty amazing experience seeing him work the decks as well, although it would be hard for most to realize what he was doing with all the tracks.....seeing him do it was a whole other world.

This was one of my all-time favorite parties, but it was also one that made me realize how things had changed in the rave scene. Gone were the days when you could walk into a warehouse with 1000-2000 people and not know a soul, and then leave 6-8 hours later and know everyone (and they were you're best friend).
