I remember when bbm was broken... 3 people I knew went out and bought an iphone.

Also, don't think I could give up the keyboard. Touchscreen sucks when you have long nails... and I'm not giving up long nails! (Yes REAL nails... not Shanaynay nails) :P

Wow grasping at straws eh?

The lack of profiles on ios and android is annoying to say the least (Nokia's were amazing). But, 3rd party apps take care of that...some of them to an incredible degree of granular control. Tasker anybody?

It doesn't matter that carriers hate iPhones. Consumers love them, and as long as the average person still buys an iPhone, carriers will change their finances to make them more profitable.

You know the biggest thing missing from iphones? That sick version of brick breaker that comes with each blackberry.

No seriously, I know a bunch of gamers that got the iPhone specifically it was a great gaming machine. Hell where else can you get a anniversary version of Secret of Mana!?

I bought Crono Trigger as a result man and a bunch of other RPGs. So fun.

Dunno which phone I'll end up getting when my contract expires but who knows. All I will do is not upgrade the OS and hopefully my baseband will be hacked soon, so very annoying not being able to travel with it. Ah well.

All this no keybord rant again and again. There is actually quite a few nice Androids with physical keyboards. My prev phone (g2/ htc desire z) had an awesome physical keybord which is more convinient than blackberry. Bigger buttons ))) are always nice. Too bad Android phone manufacturers are moving away from physical keybords nowadays (its more about the look than functionality now). I just bought a nexus galaxy, which is an amazing & very fast phone but sometimes the touch screen keybord irritates me. Yes it is not that bad and you can get used to it but still you cant type nearly as fast and switching between layouts (e.g. to get @ sign or "" or something) is irritating compared to a physical keyboard phone.

Most believe that's why there's a few specs that aren't as high as they could be (5mp instead of 8mp, 1.2 dual core instead of 1.5) in order to not make their own product line look inferior.

The fact Nexus has the buttons as part of the screen makes a huge difference. If I were buying an Android now and didn't want the Nexus I'd for sure wait for the new models made for ICS specifically come out.

My buddy from work got a Nexus a couple of weeks ago and ever since we've been comparing our phones and, while trying to remain as unbiased as possible, I think my SGSII is the best Android phone you could get right now. The only thing the Nexus has over my phone is screen size which only comes into play when you're watching videos. When using the actual phone itself the screens are the same size theoretically, because the extra space provided on the Nexus is used by the Home/Settings/Back buttons. In terms of phone usability though, the physical Home button as well as the Back and Settings buttons work a lot better on the SGSII versus their touchscreen counterparts on the Nexus.

On top of that the actual picture quality itself is way superior on the SGSII (even I was shocked by this). And lets not ignore memory expansion. The Galaxy Nexus has no support for that; meanwhile the SGSII supports up to 32GB; although if you go on XDA or Android Forums there's people using 64GB microSD cards on the SGSII's.

Factor in the price and it's really a no-brainer as to which phone is the better purchase.

As to your last sentence (waiting for hardware made specifically for ICS): why? I'm really curious because I've had ICS on my SGSII for a few days before I went back to 2.3.6 (ICS was too glitchy), but I honestly do not see why a phone needs to be made specifically with that firmware in mind. It's good and all...but not the be-all, end-all Android version. In my honest opinion, Cyanogenmod should be made into the "official" Android flavour. That mod is like 5 steps ahead of whatever Google is putting out.

I gave up my BB for a number of reasons, first being I had several different handsets and multiple times in a row, it malfunctioned causing me to get a loaner from telus and lose my contacts etc when it was replaced. BBM also drove me mental - it was impossible to shut it off.

Problem with RIM these days is their business focused strategy was so heavily entrenched for so long that they didn't see it coming when consumers started being able to make decisions about their handset at work. It's interesting to see how the influence of a corporate IT department is shifting. It makes the consumer's shift away from RIM all the more damaging, when they can start pushing the blackberry out of their work environment as well as their home environment.
