never been an Armin fan, but I thought this interview was respectable. I think you guys are being a little unfair when you say "he's not passionate" bla bla bla. I think anyone that's dedicated their life to music has the right to claim that passion, no matter how shallow we think their taste may be.

well thats just it though he admits its not his taste, hes simply an entertainer pleasing the crowd... by his own admission.

Well, the question is whether he would mention Trance as his taste if he would be a DJ playing mainly Ambient.

I often get the impression people look different at DJ's as DJ's look to themselves. In the Dutch vid Armin says he doesn't want the crowd to see him while the DJ before him is playing as respect for that DJ. "Stars" don't do that, they mostly are convinced they are GOD.

Some ask why he doesn't make ambient, but liking it doesn't need to give the desire to make it. Imagine he would have liked e.g. rock.

because its hard and time consuming. probably more the former than the latter - but that'd be why. He would have to do something outside his formula and that would be daunting.
