Thanks, good article and kind of what has been slowly happening over the last 5 years.
TBH, Pro tools is somewhat really an engineer's or facilities tool now, even with the advent of it going native; The cost, especially of plugins is now further contrasted against LPX, which frankly is probably the best deal for a DAW that has ever been offered.
I don't know a single composer that works in PTHD, and the vast majority bar a couple that use cubase, are all LP but all their facilities are PTHD. This is really the defacto standard now - create, produce, compose in LPX, Engineer, Track, Mix & Dub in PTHD.
Apple want to sell millions of things to millions of people at consumer prices, Avid want to sell a small number of things to a select group at high prices. All makes sense.
