Actually it's a metel texture...
The hardest part was the custom 'sky' and where to put the sun for effect.
Render time will be relative to your computer (of course) but for me it took about 2-3hrs on my 700Mhz machine. I let it run overnight cause I really wasn't too sure how long it was going to take!

Sometimes the simplest things are the best...

I got to see Maya in action in my last contract position at Alliance Atlantis.
The graphics guys were creating all sorts of mad animations; it truely is an incredible graphics/animation program.
Very involved though; I can see why it's a full time position for some people.
