i still think that if that is your only goal, it is a double edge sword

A. you will be looking at your wrist more. Fine iff you are aCEo, but as a young entry level employee, it is more of a put off. You will make people feel like they oare on the clock.
B. you won't be part of the club. IF they do notice, they will notice it is either expensive or not expensive. Either way, you look like a smuck.

the small things i find are more subtle , and will neither offend or garner disdain.

nice pen
leather bag

the type of things that can be affordable and acceptable. There is a suit to watch ratio and wyou obviously can't play yet sowell, if you like watches , go fo it, if you think this will do anything for your career, maybe think about having a portrait of your wife instead. I mean obviously not your real wife but you know what i'm saying. badum ties.

I spend more money on my suits than I probably should, but I've just never worn a watch so it's a lot less important to me. Shoes, suits, and ties are the things people notice the most IMO. A nice leather bag is just that, nice. It's not something most people notice; same with pens. Besides, I can't stand the feel of fountain pens.

Also, I'm not an employee. I have a broker/dealer and member firm which I work through, but I don't work for them per se. I technically only work for my clients and their accounts. A lot of them are discretionary accounts too, so I often don't even have to meet with them in person.

Lol there's only 1 advisor in my firm with over $100,000,000 in managed assets. I'm nowhere near that level. Plus we take a more fiduciary approach. At the end of the day it's what is best for the client. Take care of them and they'll take care of you.

Unless you have the casio calculator one and it is not a reissue.

Well, I think it's silly when you need your phone to see how late it is.
Beside that, just few people are able to see that you actually are wearing an expensive watch. When my uncle showed his new watch I thought, what a hideous piece is that. Then, o, it's a Rolex...

How exactly is that?

Oh golly gee lews made a stupid comment and now he's going to tell everyone how wrong they are whilst simultaneously diagnosing their personality type, how much money they make, etc etc etc

It's uncanny how lews is always right. It's like he has the superpower of hindsight. I can't wait to say I told you so when he comes out of the closet.

Basically Russell , this
You don't want to look like a wealthy investor that splurges right now unless you are well taking care of that clientele.

A suit is an investment. Don't feel bad. So is a watch. These are things you spend money on once so it's not that , just the perception.

You want to come across as the up and comming family guy, not like the dick that comes in hear shooting he made 30 000.

Which is why I didn't want a $1,000+ watch right now, and if you look at the one I chose, would not scream money or flashiness at all.

Stephen, this thread is why I feel bad for you. You come across as someone trying to fit into a world they didn't grow up in, and having no idea what they're doing. The fact that you've never worn a watch before, but you're getting one now to try to fit in, is quite sad. People are never comfortable putting on costumes. You think people don't notice watches because you don't notice watches, because you didn't grow up around people who do. You notice suits and ties, when it's the little details that make all the difference. You shouldn't feel bad about this: everyone's tastes are different. The sad thing is trying to be someone you're not.

Again, all of this fits in quite well with the picture of you as someone who is finally making some decent money and now has to show how far you've come in the world. The problem is, people like that never fool the people they're trying to fit in with. It's always obvious when someone is an outsider and everyone knows it.

You keep making claims about what I do, so I invite you to go back and find where I diagnosed anyone's personality type or how much money they make. Good luck. All I've ever commented on is how you come across: sad, pathetic, and angry. Which is how you've come across you're entire time on TA.

Also, the fact that you still think that being gay is some sort of negative just contributes to the picture of you as a rather dim-witted pathetic little man.

As I've said, Stephen, you have my pity.

It's amusing reading you write about someone being a dick for flaunting money. How's all that Louis Vuitton treating you?
