after the USA beat the Russians in Hockey, I called out all fake US fans by telling em that when it comes time for the Olypmics you cheer for USA, but when it comes time to World Cup, you go cheer on some other country.
got a lot of shit from close friends and even family bout that...
but its true...International competition is International competition
That shit pisses me off to no end. Not that I have to worry about it that much, considering Canada never qualifies for the World Cup, but I can only imagine what it's like in the USA.

I don't mind if you're a native from Columbia or Ecuador, but those born in USA should be cheering on their country 1st...
last I checked, they pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States...they don't pledge allegiance to the flag of Italy or France
take that Forza Azzuri shit and shove it up your ass

Why does World cup have to be about nationality? Never understood that. Its sports. I always cheer for Italy secretly. But every World cup I find a new team I think will be a sleeper and cheer them on. It has nothing to do with where my family originated from it has to do with being a fan of soccer. Some years a nation will have 2-3 players I like a lot and I cheer them on. or sometimes theres a team I think will shock everyone and I like getting behind them to cheer.
Team loyalty is gay, its for people who don't usually watch the sport but feel the need to because everyone else is in that moment. Its the easy pick. I feel the same way about band wagon jumpers.
However that being said if none of my teams are in the final game I'm still picking a side for those 2 hours. I won't celebrate in the streets but i will show up to the party and try to snag me a Brazilian booty

so basically....you're bandwagon fan.
If I followed soccer, and France picked up a few players that I liked from other club teams and I started cheering on France in the WC because of that, I'd have my ass handed to me.
Not only would I look like a fool but I'd look like a pouser also.
Its like people who claim to be soccer fans by owning a Rooney jersey.

thats not bandwagon jumping. If a team is formed and I really like the chemistry how is it band wagon jumping. Its band wagin jumping when you dont watch the sport and you hear rumors that France is the best team out there. SO you join their side just to be able to cheer them on in the finals.
For me I am a soccer fan. I watch club soccer just like I watch International tournaments. If I am a huge Van Persie fan and I like the team he's playing on why can't i root for them? I root for teams that have no shot at winning but I like the dynamics of the team.
Band wagon jumping is I don't watch soccer but ppl seem to give a shit about this big tournament this summer. So who is the team that is going to most liley win....ok im gonna go for them. oh they got kicked out?? whos th next favorites ok im going to start cheering for them and so forth until The final minute of the final game and I start cheering for the team that is winning. That is Band wagon jumping.
What I do is make my picks of what teams I like and cheer for them. It's not necessarily always italy,

i agree... i wasn't born in US, but have lived 2/3 of my life here and root only for USA during the Olympics. When the World Cup time comes, I'll be cheering for the USA team, but since they won't get far, England is my team.. oh and GGMU
