Fat chicks with confidence are the scourge of the earth. Unfuckable and unbearable.

You know what's funny about my fat friend - she wasn't even fat. But she thought she was! I guess it became my truth too because she just never shut the fuck about it. Stupid bitch.

Insecurity can manifest itself in many different ways. What you're describing is just one particular type of insecure behaviour. I'd say most people are insecure about something or other, sometimes minor and sometimes major.

I know, which is why my first post specifically said "chronic insecurity."

I think everyone has been insecure at one time or the other. I was probably a little introverted as a child. I was good at sports so I was easily accepted with the "in" crowds. I think I gave into peer pressure a lot just to be accepted. As I got older I realized all those times I was pressured into things really got me over my fear of trying new things I thought I may not have been good at. Then with experience comes confidence. I think that is the turning point of being a young adult to manhood. It's when you realize you can pretty much do anything decently if you apply yourself and you are mature enough to make decisions about the things you are willing to try and get better at.

Then again im a 33 yr old male in Canada who still thinks he may get another shot at playing pro soccer one day and is proud about all the goals he scores in his higher tier leagues.....sounds kinda insecure

I agree most everyone has been insecure but I think Jenny is talking about people who externalize it in needy annoying behavior.

I don't agree you can do anything as long as you try hard. That's politically correct baloney they tell you in school. It shouldn't stop you from trying something new or doing something you love doing but you're not that good at. For example I've come to the conclusion I'm not musically inclined, I've played a instrument for many years and improved but not to the point I could get up on stage. I could have continued but I'd rather spend my time doing something I excel at.
