My bilirubin runs high, so at least one practitioner says I have Gilbert's syndrome, though I haven't had the official genetic test to confirm that. I drink too much, and that's never good. Other than some random stuff, like a copperhead bite, I've been very lucky with my health. Heart disease, like the Force, is strong on my father's side so if something else doesn't get me first, I will eventually deal with that.

Had a colleague with Gilbert's. No biggie.

I get chronic headaches, which I take medicine for every night. Allergic to a decent amount of food, though only one thing will kill me if I accidentally eat it, so not something I worry about too much.

Oh, and I had six wisdom teeth

They don't entirely understand. According to my neurologist, the type of headaches I get aren't really understood very well. But the pills work wonders, so all is well

@Chimney, It might be cluster headaches. I haven't seen any doctor about this, but it looks pretty accurate.

What kind of pills? Those that need prescription? I'm taking something called Sumatriptan, which seems to have the same name in english. It's very costly, around 3 EUR per pill, but it does remove the headache. It feels like it's leaving the other effects though. It's like removing the flames from an explosion, but leaving the impact and blast. Hard to describe. I should get some other pills I guess..

Yes, it's a prescription.

Only 'side effects' to them is I'm not supposed to take them if I've had a lot to drink, so I often don't take them once or so a week, and I need to take them 12 hours before I want to wake up and can't drink after that.

Limiting my headaches to one or two a month - at a fourth their duration and a fourth their intensity - is definitely worth limiting my drinking slightly lol

Sumatriptan is interesting because it doesn't work like usual NSIAD (non-steroid anti-inflamatoy drugs), but afaik it can have negative effects on the hemoglobin. I doubt Sumatriptan helps against cluster headaches. There was some experimental medicine in conjuncture with pure oxygen which helped and that barely. Ketamine was suggested as a medication as well

I once had an hour long debate with a friend on why Ketamine is to be administered in clusterheadches. Headaches are usually provoked by vasodilatation which presses onto the nerve producing pain, especially because the head is non-expandable. Ketamine worked by producing vasodilatation, so the effect was contrary to that desired. Needless to say we argued and ended up asking a cardiologist instead.

Lews: What's the medication called?

The worst I've got is... I fell off my bike in 2013 and apparently damaged something in my left shoulder. I went straight to the ER, but the orthopaedist was really angry because I showed up at 2 AM without a broken bone or anything more serious, and said he wouldn't treat me there unless I was willing to be sedated until 7 AM, which was pretty unnecessary as it only hurt when I tried to raise my arm - he couldn't explain why he wanted me to be unconscious for 5 hours saying, and I quote, it would either his way or the highway.

Long story short, took me 3 months to raise my arm again, and my left arm and shoulder hurt sometimes for no apparent reason.

That's fine and all, but you're allergic to meat or something
