You were a little slow on the up take but better late than never. So how did my pic of the turkey lead to your epiphany?
Even though the turkey turned out great it was pre brined and some complained it was too salty. I tended to agree although not to the point where it was bad.

Some of your guests are dicks then. My free food on a holiday was a bit salty? Cry about it. Ask to be invited to THEIR thanksgiving next year, to put the pressure on. That turkey better be perfect

No one came out and said it directly. It actually didn't bother me. I was too busy trying to ignore my family's dysfunction and unhappiness. Cooking is a great distraction.
