rupert, i agree to some extent with most you say, i appreciate this time you backing up you points. i dont have much time as i have my last final of the semester looming tomorrow mourning and im supposed to be studying now.

i still hold that cutting taxes is the right thing to do, although true it was directed mostly at the upper class and not the middle class as it should have. BUT i'd like to point out that even if the middle class is the "spending" class, the upper class is the "investing" class, BOTH are nessaccry for economic turnaround. hence the drop in federal intrest rate over the year (its like at 1.5%) - to increase investing (getting more people to loan money and do something with it)

near sighted-ness imo. if arabs are living in israel, why cant a few dumb jews (the settlers) live in palestine? settlers are not the issue because just like my last point, israel has proved they can make deals and be respectable partners when dealing with settlements (Sharon himself, as a general, was in charge of bringing back all settlers from sinai when it was given back to egypt after the peace talks, '78 i think, he managed to do so, even with those who brought up resistance agianst the move). the settlement issue is another thing the palestinians use to divert the conflict from the real problem.

On a different note are their any stats on taxes in the US. I specifically want to know the breakdowns between how much each class pays in income

For basic statistical information in the USA try, I havent looked myself at the Department of the Treasury webpage, The Federal Reserve Bank or the GAO, which controls the federal US budget.

For comparative statistical information on how the USA compares internationally, try any of the usual suspects, the IMF, World Bank, or the OECD.

All of those sites will give you statistical information but if you want analysis maybe this site might help

I'm not convinced by this analysis. You've overlooked the 'snowball effect' that is the multiplier. Have a look at this

why arent you convinced?
i see this as basic fundemantel monetary and fiscal policy. the snow ball effect only works to my advantage. by giving the public more money (ie through less taxes) and the busnisses greater chance to invest (ie through lower intrest rates) you start a flow of money that can be summed up as a snowball effect. the consumer spends more money and then the company can now expand and give better prices/products to the consumer which in turn causes the consumer to now want to buy the new better/cheaper product, then that money turns into more investment.... ie snowballing... when the economy is then growing it is the duty of the government to tax higher and promote saving, one reason being to have something to fall back on during more trying times.

I think perhaps you should take a look at the link.

Besides, your call for tax cuts denies the existence of a significant balanced budget multiplier, though in all honesty this has very little to do with throwing snowballs at a big Glaswegian house.

The monetary measures you advocate could run into trouble if faced with a 'liquidity trap' (cf. Japan).
