so who knows how to feel better? what gets depression and all these feelings out of the system?? |
Well... I don't think it's possible to get rid of these feelings all of a sudden. Also, every person is different, and the depression might've been triggered for several different reasons so there can't be a "formula". However, some things usually work for most people:
1) Spend more time doing things you like: in my case, producing music has been really helpful. Personally, I still feel miserable at times but not as often as I used to. Therefore, look for something to spend your time... bonsai, literature, ...
2) Don't hide from the world (despite of the fact that this is what most depressed people do). You may feel unconfortable or shy among other people (specially when they're happy) but let's face it: being sad in a dark room all by yourself won't really change the situation. Maybe some sunlight and other people will help (unless this people hurt you in any way).
3) Seek professional help: they're supposed to know how to deal with it, aren't they? Obviously, it's up to you to change but if you need help, they're better prepared than most of us. Also, choose someone you trust, because it'll be quite pointless if you hide everything from the counsellor.
4) Think twice before doing something: if it feels awful when you do something stupid and you're all right, it feels even worse when you do something dumb and you're depressed. So, before doing anything "decisive", give it a though.
5) Remember you're "sick": don't try to live as if everything were perfect because you know it isn't. Dealing with the problem is better than running away from it. Be careful with alcohol and drugs because you're already fragile, so we never know what these things can do with your health.
6) Remember things could be worse: Maybe this is the most pessimistic rule but, think about it - if you're reading this, it means you've got internet, so you probably have some wealth and dignity. Even though money doesn't bring happiness, being thankful for what you've got may make you feel better. Also, if you're reading this you know that you're not the only person in the world who's having this problem. So don't feel like you're worse than anyone else because you aren't.
7) Be patient: nothing can be healed overnight.
I can't say I'm cured, but these things kept me from getting worse and I hope it'll be of any help to you as well
