I'll admit, rugby is a pretty tough sport but there's a few reasons hockey players wear equipment you're overlooking. Sure it gets pretty rough in a rugby scrum with bodies flying at each other but do they have solid frozen disks flying at them at insane speeds? Do they have rogue sticks or razer sharp skates flying their way. Its one thing to be tough.. its another thing to be stupid and blatently risk your life. But again i dont know why im even argueing this. The arguement was about HOCKEY and about SOCCER.
So i guess you agree with me.. soccer is a pussy sport.

And when did this thread become a Canadian vs Brittain battle? I really don't want to get into that. I mean at least before in this HOCKEY thread we were talking about sports.

Even women's soccer is more popular in US than hockey. So gimme a break. Toronto is one of the biggest cities in Canada thus lots of media coverage as hockey is #1 in Canada period (popularity wise).

And about whining tell me about when every single senator fan was fucking whinin when you lost both times to the leafs in the play offs? In regards to whining in Toronto it may seam that way because there is a lot more media coverage, thus a lot more opinions are presented to the public across Canada. Sure u still have to make it to the top 8 of the conference, but it does not fucking matter what or who u play cause anything can happen. But than again Senators have greatly improved their team, but than again just like I said I think not a single player on Sens has any class. ya sure we were pissed. But we pointed the finger at the right people. Our team played poorly, our coach made mistakes and they were the ones who the fans blamed and rightfully so. But come next year we cheered for them again. We didnt blame the refs or the league or cry conspiracy...

We lost three years in a row. I'll admit it. We lost last year because the leafs played better pure and simple. Im ashamed and i took the abuse from my friends and every leaf fan. And if it happens this year ill take it like a man come in here and give my props. That said leaf fans are grossly blowing it out of proportion. You didnt win the cup any of those years. Thats the point of the Stanly CUP playoffs isnt it? To win the CUP? Everyone says the playoffs are the most important season but for one reason only. To win the cup. If you don't win the cup your run is for nothing. Last years win over the senators really doesnt make it all that much more important than any regular season wins. Win the cup then come brag to me.

And I think you and I both know the complaints about martin and alfredsson are rubbish. The entire organization has been praised by media around the league for its class. First of all it was Hossa who poked berard in the eye. Second the reason he had his stick up in the air was because he went to take a shot and fanned. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what he did. It was completely accidental and people close to the team said he felt so sick to his stomach afterwords that they thought he might have put himself temporarily out of the lineup. And please if you think visors are the biggest problem in hockey you have to stop watching don cherry. (ironically the accident to berard wouldnt have happend if HE was wearing a visor) You see just as many high sticks in the air from people without visors than you do with. Its a silly arguement.

As for leafs injuries.. half of them didnt even happen in the ottawa series. Sundin injured his wrist last year against NY. I dont think roberts was injured in the ottawa series. Antropov was hit with a PERFECTLY legal hit and i think cocked his leg funny. And I would have beaten tucker over the head repeatedly if I was on the ice (even though alfredsson's hit was also perfectly fine).
