personally i think his productions hit hot and cold. Some of his tracks come out sounding similar and sometimes he churns out pants trance, but sometimes he comesup with beasts of choons which i love. Cyber Food or whatever its called just makes me wanna wiggle

however, back to cali was appalling... so was push's rethink...

as for his DJing i never heard him live. always off doing summut else, so i cant commment.

Dj wise he isnt the best, production wise he isnt the best

mauro picotto never played just cheese trance. Sure his productions were a tad cheesy, but even his earlier sets had a lot of techno influence. The reason people in techno don't like him is cos he used to mix both light trance and hard techno all in the same sets. Take trance energy 2001 for example.

My opinion:

Personally, I like Picottos techno productions (ie. Baguette, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Freetown, Cyberfood, Taub?) more than his songs such as the chart released mix of LTLT and komodo. I think his tunes are bangin and hav great energy (one of ma fav moments of clubibn is hearin baguette @ CODE and seein the lasers go crazy, as well as the crowd!), and when heard in a club I cant help but go crazy. From the sets I hav d/l and heard of him I hav not noticed any mixin mistakes, but hav not yet had the pleasure of seeing him live (something I really wanna do)
Also, his Funk mix of back to cali is also rated highly by me, I think its cool he can diversify into this style of music!
As for the track formally known as “Dark Room”, I can see why ppl say he is rippin off gatex but I personally don’t believe he is. It only has small resemblance IMO and although I really like gatex, I think this production is a lot better! That’s just what I think tho

the only people who think picotto plays techno are tranceaddicts. He has little respekt with techno community. saying that he is a fun dj who isnt the worst but who ruins his sets by playing cheese & is more interested in posing.

As far his Trance and Techno productions go Mauro is my man. His loungey stuff other hand can be burned and erased from the history of man for all I care
Never heard a live set live. So I can't really judge his mixing talents as I believe it's unfare to judge such things by hearing it from behind your comp or radio. Live sets should be heard live in the crowd.
I have the Double Album, The Others and a Maxi of Iguana. The Triple Album was just a rip off and I didn't bother buying it. .

Tell me, how do you know that?? Picotto has many friends in the "techno community" as you so quaintly put it.

Thats the biggest pile of shite Ive ever read..

When it comes to banging tunes that get you pumped up, Mauro knows the score. I always put Baguette on any mix CD that I make because it is a true representation of how great his productions are. Not to mention how amazing he is at mixing as well.
