I like a few other kinds of music too.

I love ambient music, especially deep atmospheric soundscapes. Good ambient releases are not easy to find in stores though. I especially like the works of artists like Robert Rich and Steve Roach. Do not confuse ambient music with "new age" music, or chill-out music. The works of the aforementioned artists are very deep and other-worldly, and sometimes strange, but always "fine" in the artistic sense - "fine arts" is what these guys produce.

Check out the Robert Rich site , and the Steve Roach site.

My love for Ambient music grew, albiet very slowly, when in 1994 a friend told me about a radio show on 2MBS 102.5 FM in Sydney, called "Ultimathule" every Thursday night from 10pm to 1am. I didn't understand it at first, it was so different to anything I had ever heard. But as time went by I started to get the feel for the hypnotising and atmospheric sounds. I'd lie in bed in darkness and listen. The sounds made me feel like I was in a dream state, or far out in deep space, or comatose, or on another planet. Often I would be in a half-sleep state or lucid-dreaming state, and the sounds would nicely accompany these states of mind, and then I would often drift off into full sleep.

As an aside, there was a show called "Our world through serotonin" that came straight after Ultimathule at 1:00am, and the show is still going on 2MBS 102.5 FM on Thursday nights. The stuff they play is totally whacko, especially when you're lying in bed in darkness. Lots of archaic sound samples and obscure music and spoken word are tossed together like salad... it's very strange stuff, yet intriguing. Have a listen if you are still awake at 1:00am on a Thursday.

Anyway, back to ambient music - Brian Eno was the pioneer with some of his old works like "Music for airports" and "On land". I have his album "Music for the NASA space mission". Other ambient music albums I have are Robert Rich - Trances/Drones, Global communication - 7614, and Woob - Em:t 1194. I highly recommend these. Another I'd recommend is Steve roach - On this planet. After listening to it, you wonder what planet he is actually portraying. Check out a review here.

Okay that's probably enough talk on ambient music for now. I also like chill-out, like the Cafe Del Mar series, and Real Ibiza series. Jose Padilla was the person who compiled the first 6 Cafe Del Mar compilations. I love his album "Souvenir", and "Navigator" is okay too.

I also like Pink Floyd, their old and new stuff. I bought "Meddle" the one which has the 20 minute track "Echoes" - that track is a beautiful mental journey. Their P.U.L.S.E. concert is brilliant. I wish it was available on DVD.

I've liked U2's old stuff, like Joshua tree.

I also used to like metal - heavy metal, black metal and doom metal. e.g. artists like Metallica, Cradle of filth (I have their album "The principle of evil made flesh"), and My dying bride (I have their album "The angel and the dark river"). I remember listening to the metal radio shows on triple R on Monday nights when I was in year 11 some years ago.

The music I love most is trance, and anything that is trancy, whether it be progressive trance or trancecore. Only a little hard trance though.

I'm more into techno than trance these days. I also like a bit of breaks, DnB, elctro, porn soundtracks, accoustic rock, and some good acid does me too.

Trance is my number one But im a lover off all music (cept metal, cant stand that stuff) Trance, prog, house, breaks etc. I really love nice chilled ambient/funky dnb. Bit of bukem or fabio is awesome! Im starting to get into the more relaxed, laid back music.

I just love trance, cant get enough of it. Gives me Goosebumps. You know when a good song comes on at work or in your car and you feel like you are at a rave and you get that awesome warm, fuzzy sensation, like you are actually there, and you can close your eyes and almost re-live it..... I love that feeling, nothing will ever do that to my the way trance does..

Up until my first year of uni I was listening 2Korn,Limp Bizkit, Placebo, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Rage against the machine, etc, etc, etc, But soon after starting uni I was converted into "the world of dance music", I wasn't into anything specific then, just the Gatecrasher compilations & shit like that...

It took a while to educate myself & to specify my taste in a specific area of "dance music", but since discovering trance I haven't looked back....

yar im just all trance. been listening to the stuff for like 2 years straight with nothing else on the side, except when my mates drag me to shitty RnB clubs! : ) i know this is bad. but i cant find another style i like apart from trance. i used to be a metal head, but i fkn cant stand metal anymore. i just need something i enjoy to balance me out, coz i feel if i keep on doing this ill get sick of trance. which i dont want coz i love it sooo much!!
