Wow, that's such a sad excuse for pricing. They can control "overselling" by simply printing a set amount of tickets to be sold at a particular price while the rest will just have to wait and buy at the door. The way the email sounded was something along the lines of: "If we jack the price up, not enough people will be able to afford it and therefore, not that many people will show up." That's some horrible business practice.
In most cases, the extra incentives for purchasing advance tickets are to guarantee admission and perhaps save a few bucks just for committing so early. So what they should be doing is to lower prices for those that commit early instead of using prices to deter people away, especially in the tough current economic situation.
And for that person who said the increase isn't that much of a difference, that's not true at all. That would mean Made should charge like $65 or something since it's the same amount of $ people would spend when everything is added up after a $40 admission. Of course those who really can't afford any extras will have to dehydrate, dance with their coats on, and the club itself would make a lot less.
