The music was insane.... also except for a couple drizzles (not even worthy of an umbrella) the weather held up nicely

Got there at 6...

It was good, really good! Heavy bangingness from Saunderson...Claude Von Stroke kinda disappointed but I didn't go in with any expectations from him so...ya, all good I guess.

The change I'd have made is putting Von Stroke BEFORE Saunderson...Claude brought it down too much & he would have warmed up nicely for Saunderson. When you're hearing 134 bpm techno for 2.5 hours, bringing it down to 126 bpm isn't the best thing. Just plain old physics

Bye Bye Piknik, thanks for everything!

Ok got there around 5:15 - 5:30 in a bad mood cause Saunderson had already started. After around 15 minutes I was happy to realize he was starting to do his transition to full on techno! I couldnt believe I was hearing this old school sound again. All promoters in Mtl who are scared to book techno.... WTF did you see the crowd? People love techno here, they loved it before and they can love it again! All it takes is promoters to get out of the comfort zone and stop saying nobody likes techno! What I could not figure out is WHY Claude Von Stroke went on after Kevin? Like Stereohead said its physics ffs! I actually left because I was so dissapointed. Great job Piknik for the year even though there was a few cancellations! All winter I will be looking forward to see the next lineup!

Saunderson proved that he can still play a variety of old school and fresh sounds, banging beats that were popular in the 90's and yet still sound very actual. The house twist and Detroit sounds just make him the best of all for me. It amazes me that this guy was playing records in the first raves early 90's...in 2008, he's now 45 years old, still uses samples and remixes of his old tracks, uses only his laptop to mix(!!!) and definitely can still put on a great show.

edit: I failed to mention that I was going there expecting a certain amount of cheesiness as he seems to have a tendency to play euro electro-house like Guetta sometimes...suprisingly he actually stuck to a deep tech and more detroit sound of house. perfect.
