i'm not sure whats in these things so who knows. i guess its better than nothing. losing weight is simple burn more calories than you take in. of course not so easy to do. |
Unless people are eating something like einsteinium, everything being eaten now did exist prior to the 19th century. I have to say that's a horrible rule - we now have the ability to eat specialized food to hit certain goals.
If the meal replacements are made with high quality materials I doubt there's much harm in taking them for a while, and any harm they did bring would very likely be negated by the health benefits of attaining a healthy weight / fat percentage.
Mel, Lean Body for Her does not look like something that should be taken for weight loss purposes - with that much protein and little to no nutritional value it looks like it's intended for supplemental purposes. If you're working out constantly and need to maintain muscle mass it would be excellent.
Weight loss for most women is best achieved by eating right (whole grains, fruits, vegetables), eating less, drinking right (little to no alcohol, lots of water and tea) and working out right (treadmill, major muscle workouts: legs, arms, abs, chest and back).
I think weight loss is easier once you resign yourself to the fact that there is no magic bullet that will get you the results you want. The path is somewhat slow but ultimately worth it - you should be able to lose 3/4 - 1 pound per week if you eat right and workout right. I would make a habit of going to the store and purchasing good foods like I mentioned above and snacking on vegetables throughout the day.
If you want meal ideas let me know and I'll tell you what I eat when I'm cutting (which I am right now).
Hang in there - 5 pounds should be pretty easy to lose over the next month or two ^.^
