Even though it wasn't in-game, I still don't think anything will ever top being there for Jordan's first home game after his first retirement. Hearing those starting line-up introductions still gives me chills, anyway, and hearing them that day just drove the entire place insane. It was amazing.

I did see him a lot, and he was a much better player when he started out. He got the home run disease, and started swinging for the fences every time, and it's paid off for him, but he used to be great. Now he's just another muscle-bound freak who can hit the ball far every few games. I've always thought home runs were the most overrated stat in all of sports, but they pay the bills. He's just going to hit .270 or .280 & hit 30-40 home runs, and that's not worthy of $100 mil, imo.

it was, but after wainwright struck out beltran...it was a VERY depressing ride on the 7 train back home.

i was at almost every playoff game last year. (and obviously took a ton of pics). I also had world series tickets to both game 3 and 4. the most painful part was that i had to pay for the tickets first before I got the credit applied to my amex card the next month

well he is 2nd in the nl in rbis, 9th in the nl in hits, and strikes out 1 almost every 12 at bats, which is pretty good. he's worth it. the problem is he's surrounded by a young team. once wigginton, burke, and pence start getting some experience, he's going to get some nice support.

When tickets went on sale for the '05 world series, I had a whole row of computers lined up, and one of them got in to get two for game 6. I decided to wait to see if 1 or 2 would come through, though, & lost those. Good thing

I can't remember any devastating losses, 'cuz I was too young for the pistons rivalry, but watching every team but the Bulls in the 90's was just a slow, drawn-out form of torture.

i got really, really lucky with tickets. i paid face for all of the games.

i won a drawing for the right to buy playoff tickets for one of the NLDS games. I bought tickets for game 2 of the NLDS. I traded one of the tickets to my friends so I can go to game 1 of the NLDS.

we got tickets to NLCS game 2 from the 6 game package we did with the Mets last year. my friend won a drawing to get tickets for game 1 of the NLCS.

another friend of mine won a drawing for ill-fated NLCS game 7.

yeah...i don't remember having such a stretch of luck with playoff tickets

they're guaranteed
free agency is unrestricted
people keep setting a new bar for insanity (one of the points from that show: it's never Steinbrenner who does it.)
there's a short supply of talent, especially in pitching, so there's a giant bidding war dependent on the options each year--not on actual skill
and, of course, no salary cap or revenue sharing

I understand that it is a job, and I also understand that you're good at it or else you wouldn't be on the mound but I don't know what qualifies someone to be paid millions for a JOB.

boy did you miss the good old days of the pistons-bulls rivalry. there were actual blood, sweat, and tears rolling around the court every game. when the bulls finally swept the pistons back in 1991, that was the most entertaining sweep in recent memory. that's how good this rivalry was.
