I enjoyed the fact that Mahone stayed true to the crew and didn't sell them out. The whole escape, though, was a little silly (e.g. Michael running and hiding underneath the FBI agent's car?!?).

Overall, I believe it was a mistake for Fox not to air this special.

nah i think it was overdone. i like the assumption that michael died due to his medical condition itself more. there was an over abundance of cheese in the final break (more than usual). and it doesnt show how each character got on with life as compared to what really aired

Unless I am mistaken, it's not a quesiton of what 'really aired': the entire plot of Sara going to and then getting broken out of prison is the story of how Prison Break ends. It is the one and only plot constructed by the writers. I assume that scheduling conflicts prevented it from being aired in N.America but that doesn't change the specifics of the storyline.

This reminds me of The Sopranos: having watched every single episode I remember being disappointed with the fact that Tony kills Christopher b/c based on the former's character development I believe the act is something that Tony would never carry out. The murder is, however, exactly how the show approached its ending and, so, we must accept it.

I definitely agree, though, that there was tons of cheese in the final episode of PB.

see i liked how it was left to the viewers imagination about what happened to michael. we didn't know if he died from his illness or from something else that might've happened.

it made me appreciate the last scene with the tombstone and the whole group a lot more.
