So you guys don't think you can measure maturity by looking at one's ability to use higher skills of reasoning and judgment, problem solving, etc.?

Maturity is best judged by what happens when you give someone a credit card.

i personally have matured with age more so than from experience. i mean ffs when i was 17 years old i was bar hopping in hiroshima, japan and hiking mt fuji with my dad and stuff...i still came back to america and went through my typical obnoxious 18-22 immature bracket and partied and thought i was the bomb, etc...

It's all relative, really. I mean one can be mature in certain areas and still need development in others. To be fully well rounded is clearly a combination of both age AND experience. Some may never be well rounded. Just look at all the man-children running around in this world, lol.

1200 is peanuts compared to what most dummies that screw up with their first credit card end up owing.

I don't think reasoning and judgement are directly linked to age in any particular sense, as there are plenty of wise youngsters and lots of reckless adults. Given how "maturity" entails a process during which an "immature" person then becomes "mature", I'd rather ignore this concept altogether.

Actually, higher reasoning and judgment are strongly linked to development of the prefrontal cortex in the brain. For which strong evidence exists that it doesn't fully develop until after the age of 18.
