last word about Houston: I never thought he was WORTH his salary, even prior to the contract...his failure to help Spreewell win that GAME 6 or 7 (Spree scored 35 on his OWN) against the SPURS was def a debacle. I think when i heard about that crazy contract, i just lost faith in Knicks mgmt overall and stopped watching. well they never truly bounced back...

I believe the angels still own the yanks for the 5th year in a row

edit: they're the only AL Team to have a winning percentage against the Yankees during the Joe Torre era

its so hard to imagine that the Yankees are actually in 2nd place behind the BOSOX even if they are 11 games back...is all of baseball in the AL East just suckin' this year????

well who knows, they may just have a chance yet. but stop it with those freakin' errors tho...and get outta that slump Abreu!!!

man at this rate, someone on the mgmt side is soooo gonna lose his job at seasons end and imo he should have been let go much earlier....

you were obviously watching the game. I think they said that in the beginning. I hate when the yankees play the angels. I can't remember the yankees actually ever winning a series. I know they have, its just that the angels kill the yankees.

what's the deal with Mike Scioscia?? I wasn't watching ever minute of every game, but i don't remember seeing him once on tv. I do remember seeing Ron Roenicke (angels bench coach) on many occasions.

I really hate to say this, but unless boston starts losing pitchers on the DL, i don't really see the yankees overtaking them. In order for the yankees to match last years total wins they have to win 76 of the remaining 114 games (.666 winning percentage). That just isn't something i see happening. Similarly, boston needs only to maintain a modest .557 winning percent to reach 97 wins. Unfortunately, our hope in winning this divison probably rests on an injury of a boston pitcher.

I actually saw that on the AP writeup on the preview of the game for today. Every time I've seen the Angels at Yankee Stadium, they always won. However, when I went to Angel Stadium out in Anaheim last April (the Yankees happen to be in town), the entire Yankee lineup had batting practice off Bartolo Colon and won big.

Exactly. I think Allan houston was awesome for us when he was healthy... I've heard a lot of people blame the guy for the huge contract... but it's not his fault dumbass Layden gave him that massive contract, outbidding the next highest bidder by like 40 million...

thankfully, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but it looks like Isiah has the team going in somewhat the right direction w/ the young players and cutting payroll for the 2009/2010 seasons, when the big FAs hit the market

i just want to add about Angel Stadium:

it's underrated as a stadium. they did a great job transforming the stadium from a dual purpose field to a baseball exclusive facility.

Everything is reasonably priced (compared to both NY stadiums). Nice to see the hills past center field. The fountain and the rocks look cheesy on TV but less on in person.

no bars or shops within walking distance of the game however.

it's not the best stadium, but it pleasantly surprised me.

There's nothing within walking distance anywhere in california.

The A's stadium, McAfee i think its called, is far worse. There is nothing anywhere near that place.

Only holds through for 3 of the 5 california ballparks (Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium, and McAffee Coliseum)

Take Petco Park in San Diego for instance. The ballpark is right downtown in the Gaslamp district (Nightlife area). There is a ton of restaurants, bars and hotels nearby. It's the closest thing that matches Wrigleyville in terms of neighborhood IMO.

Another example is AT&T Park in San Fransisco. There are a bunch of restaurants and bars nearby.

As for McAffee Coliseum. They have 1 hot dog stand near the BART Station. That's it

Dodger Stadium has nothing within walking distance.

Best stadium as far as Im concerned (I know this is herecy) is Fenway, thers just such an old time feel, and the bars nearby, Landsdown ST , the seating, it just has a great feel. Most of the Boston fans are just plain funny, when they abuse us Yankee fans they come out with some great lines. In terms of cities to visit that have a team, my favorite is Toronto, the spectcle of the roof opening and closing is still worth the price of admission, but it does get stuffy when roof is closed. Its wierd that a bunch of people call themselves New Yorkers, since they are from Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo, and Toronto is way closer than the Bronx, but they should not refer to themselves as New Yorkers, the only thing we have in common is taxes and Spitzer. Anyways Toronto is reallly cosmopolitan, great bars, restaurants, just a great pulse to the city, well worth visiting if you want a city with a vibe and for a TA, they ahve great club events there. Worst stadium, which you have to see before its gone, is RFK in DC, Holy Shit the place is so bad its definitly worth going. I went to the old Phillies stadium whcih was garbage similar to Shea, but I love the city for the walking tours, chestnut St, and Geno's-of course.Chicago's Wrigley is a great stadium, but the people dont have the spirit of the Northeast,a little subdued, but the food in Chicago is great, forget about pizza, do steak and ribs. Baltimore is overated, its boring and everything is so fake, its all scripted out, opposiste of Fenway, people have no energy, probably because its like a big KKK meeting, with all white people
