how long did it take you before you started feeling comfortable speaking english? i know you guys are taught english from a young age, so did you start feeling totally comfortable when you came over here and had to speak it all the time or before that?

english is a mandatory subject starting in 5th grade.
I really don't know at what point i was comfortable speaking english, i'd say like 7th grade or something. After 7/8th grade, english is taught in english in germany. At least at my HS.

some of my friends' english is AWEFUL, but others have decend english. Writing is much simpler than speaking, esp. since some people have large problems pronouncing some words (you should hear one of my friends trying to say "access")..

ok, for the non-geeky guys (and gals, since i do not discriminate :

1. create your SP characte
   
2. with character showing in your active window hit ALT+PrintScreen
   
3. goto start->run->mspaint
   
4. in mspaint hit CTRL+V
   
5. Crop the image to just show your character
   
6. save as a gif, if you can
   
7. upload to webspace
   
8. use the [img] thing to show the image
