I still love cardio, though. Nothing beats getting on a C2 and busting ass for 5-6k, or going for a nice cruising run in the woods on a nice day (for me, anyways. YMMV). Might not be really necessary all the time, but I just like getting the blood moving as much as I can.
Speaking of which, I'm going to try cutting back on the heavy weight lifting for a while and substituting with CrossFit workouts. My strength and physique have definitely improved tremendously since I've been on the wagon (last 6 months or so), but I feel like my overall athleticism could improve and I like the sound/philosophy of their workouts. I've always been more for getting fit with functional strength as opposed to just getting big/ripped, and I think the weight work I was doing before hand wasn't the most inducive to that (think Bruce Lee, as opposed to a bodybuilder). Anyone had any experience? I think I'm going to start doing yoga on rest days too... I've got pretty good flexibility overall, but sitting through lectures and homework for hours every day fucks my core/shoulders/neck up badly, and I could stand to loosen up.
Maybe I'll put up some progress pics later if I can find an easy image host.
But yeah, staying in shape ftmfw
