But that is exactly my point. This isn't an 'arbitrary border adjustment'. How would you react if Germany DID annex some territory surrounding it today?

I merely brought up "right now" to counter the previously posted historical irrelevancy. Fact of the matter is, this is an unlawful action being taken today, against international law, and nothing is being done about it, and people are confused as to why Serbs are upset over it. That's about as fucking nutshell as it gets, isn't it?

As for the second question, there is no short answer to it. Considering western, and particularily, US, expansionism after the close of WWII, considering the Balkans to be in a key geographic area, considering the numerous bases that were in the past proposed there...shall I continue? You speak as if the US only has interest in material resources that it can reap right now...

Kosovo is a bit different when you put in rights of self determination and all that shijazz. More different than simple a country annexing another country's province.

But, we're going to be running around in circles again...

International law is irrelevant when there is no 'overlord' organization, or means to enforce the international law, and punish any violations.

Realpolitik... very interesting concept

i'm asking, i wasn't drawing any conclusions. i am, however, skeptical that Kosovo is important in any way to the US.

i would actually surmise that the only reason the US even cares is because we are being sympathetic to ethnic muslims, in hopes that the rest of the muslim words sees our sympathy. Seeing how that hasn't works, the US should avoid interfering in this situation.

I'm personally all for the US interfering wherever they can. As the hegemon, its their job. But the interferences have to follow some consistent policy in line with the promulgated statements of intention. If the global mission is a war on terrorists, then they should probably give Belgrade a few F15s, a marine division and some SCUDs and say 'go get those KLF ******s, yeehaw.'
