thermogenics simply raise resting heart rate so you burn more calories. not a substantial amount but enough to make a difference over time. think 50-100 calories/day.
they make a great addition if you're doing everything else correctly but they are no miracle product. for example, to start my summer 'cut' i'll be adding on more cardio, taking in ~200 less calories than my 'maintenance', and using a thermogenic. this will allow for a slow and steady cut while maintaining energy levels.
