Meh... we obviously have different styles of favorite ball players. I don't mind Bonds at all. A little racist, but I can handle it.

However, my hatred or disliking of a player (I can't even think of any I hate that much) would never get in the way of me wanting to see a record broken. If Clemens (whom I don't hate, but I'm not fond of) had 49 scoreless innings... you're damn right I'd be watching that final inning and going crazy when he gets that first out. I love stats and love seeing records broken, no matter who is doing the breaking. Soo..

Swing away, Johnny. Swing away...

Barry Bonds breaking the HR record would be a travesty. I'm sure there would be plenty of boos if that happened because we all know it was helped by the use of steroids. If he broke it legally, then I'd watch but I still wouldn't root for it. Barry is a pompous A hole. He has his own couch and huge locker area in the clubhouse and practically has no friends on the team. Nevermind all the stupid comments he makes.

Man Ram has amazing talent but he acts like a buffoon, a prima donna, and really is lazy at times both in running the bases and fielding his position. My favorite players of all-time are guys like Paul O'Neil who never gave up an at bat. Plus, he was firey like me.. he just really cared about winning. My favorite football player has always been Isaac Bruce because he's clutch and always just scores the TD and walks to the sidelines. TO is funny at times but he is an attention whore just like someone on this board (and Curt Schilling).

I don't like show boats either. And I don't like guys who are just sloppy and don't act professional. Have respect for the game and your fellow players.

Of course I don't like Kevin Brown because he's a jerk, puts himself before the team (breaking his hand), and completely sucks even though he's paid 15 million.

Respect for the game? Babe Ruth was a fat slob. Mickey Mantle drank himself silly every night. Ty Cobb was a complete asshole. That doesn't take away that they are three of the greatest to ever play. I see nothing wrong with Johnny Damon growing his hair long. If he wants long hair, who am I too hate/judge him for it? And his long hair takes NOTHING away from him having a 29 game hit-streak. I don't see how you couldn't root for a guy to break the record. If he does (doubt it, but still)... what're you going to say to your kids in 20 years. "I remember the year Damon broke the record. I didn't like him because he had long hair." I, personally, can't wait to tell my kids how great players like Rodriguez, Ramirez, Ortiz, Abreu, Pedro, Mariano, etc were... Regardless if I don't like them or if I do.

However... I do think that if Ortiz was on another team, you really wouldn't care at all about him. He's the best LH hitter in baseball when there's no Bonds. Can't take that away from him because he is a Red Sox.

I'm a Mets fan. By nature, I have to hate the Braves. That doesn't stop me from saying that Andruw Jones is the greatest defensive player at any position I've ever seen. Or from saying that Chipper Jones is one of the best and most underrated players of our generation. I may hate when players like those two and Pat Burrell come to the plate because they kill the Mets. But I will never NOT give them props. Or say I hate them...

Again... that's just me.

I hated Michael Jordan but I always respected him. You are taking both as the same meaning because I don't like them then I don't respect them. That's not true at all. I don't want Barry Bonds to break the record because he's cheating. That's different. I was joking about Damon and his hair, GEEZ, I thought that would be completely obvious as a use of my constant sarcasm.

I respect Ortiz but hate him because he's the ultimate Yankee killer. I don't see anything wrong with that. That's just me...

Man Ram is a different story.

Did I ever mention that Damon sucked? So I don't get that point. I don't like guys that look like clowns, that's my perogative. I am with Joe Morgan who thinks you should dress like a professional baseball player, not just whatever you want to do.

Babe Ruth a fat slob. That's endearing to have such a fat guy be such a great baseball player. He obviously wasn't juicing!

Mickey Mantle was an alcoholic and womanizer. I never liked Mickey sorry because he shared the same traits as my dad.

And I hate Kobe Bryant because he at the best cheated on his wife. I don't admire players that are scumbags off the court/diamond,etc. I don't just look at his skills as to whether I like/dislike someone. I don't like fans that don't care how a person is, only if they score a lot of points or hit a lot of homers.

And you talk about if they were on a different team. Yeah, maybe, you can always change your opinion about people. I hated A Rod before he was a Yankee. Am I supposed to always hate him then even though he starts to help my team win games? Sometimes I still don't like the guy but sometimes I was wrong about my opinions. Or my opinions change. I used to like Tiesto of all things....

I don't love A Rod but I'm happy he's kicking ass for my team.

I see what you're saying. Obviously, we just disagree on hating certain players.

And I don't only like players for their stats. I think Manny is one of the top 10 RH offensive players of all time, possibly either handed... we can all probably agree on that. As far as his personality goes, I enjoy watching him. I like that he's always smiling. He seems like a kid on the field. The way any kid would kill their mom to play Major League Baseball... thats the way I feel Manny is. He plays to play. I don't think he cares what team he's on. I don't think he cares about anything really... except hitting that baseball as hard as he can. He doesn't take it seriously. And, in my opinion, that's the way it should be. It's a game. They aren't saving lives out there. He's a little cocky, I'll admit that. But I think if I were that good, I'd watch a few homers here and there. And I love him for it. Plus... He believes we make our own destination... That's gotta count for something.

I definitely respect Manny's game and his jovial attitude. Just run hard!

And I'm sure we agree on some guys like Jake Peavy...

By the way, David Wright is my favorite Met.

Posada and Mo' are my favorite Yankees.

Last week during BP, David Wright was walking to the dugout. Everyone was asking for autographs. A little boy wearing a Yankees cap said "Hey David, autograph?" Wright said "Not for a Yankee fan..." and walked in the dugout... The little bitch cried and an usher told Wright. He gave the kid a bat and an autographed ball. What a pussy... the kid, not D Wright.

Man... you guys are weird. A pitcher has shown nothing all year. He has one good game and you're converted?

IshBB had a good start two starts ago. I was pleased. But I knew that was all we were gonna get. Sure enough... rocked the next start.
