| quote: | | thats part of a dj's history and it is like a good trip down memory lane that sounds way better on loud speakers then my weak headphones. |
i think this sums up my feeling about his choice of old selections nicely. i dont feel that if a dj chooses to play old tracks, that it is a bad thing, and i dont feel its realistic to expect a dj to play 100% new stuff the whole time.
i was at a club in bellingham last year, and lo and behold, the dj started playing endless wave. you have NO IDEA how happy that made me... i hadnt heard that song in so long, and here i was, able to hear it loud, to dance to it, etc.
i was absolutely tickled when ferry played out of the blue. the first trance that really moved me was trance nation volume 1 (mixed by ferry corsten.. i got to tell him that at the show, it made me happy)... out of the blue was on that cd. it brought back so many memories of that time of my life.
im glad he played old stuff. im glad he played the other stuff he played, also. im not a dj, i dont go to the record store and scour the albums... as long as it sounds great and hes into the crowd, i have a good time. many of you in the back prolly didnt get the experience elena and i did.. watching ferry's expressions go from intently mixing, to amazement of the crowd, to interaction, etc. it was just great.

OMG, I can't believe I've been missing this thread =P
Just for the record, my brother got back from the UK Sunday night. He had seen Ferry 3 times in the previous 2 months and 6 times there over 2 years. He ranked the Van show up there with the best of them as far as the music went.
I love the fact that Ferry played a bunch of old tracks. They were, after all, HIS TRACKS.

Hey guys, u forgot one of the most important songs in his set : Veracocha - carta blanca
Download it and u'll see whut i'm talking about. This, and Tenshi made the night for me.
I was extremely happy to see so many TAs @ Ferry considering the small croud of ppl, and the shitty club. I knew ppl were able to appreciate the music, and that is whut made it sooo much cooler.
He is a fukin GOD!! right up there with Tiësto, and PvD!
