If you're hell bent on praising the dead, then talk about Jimi Hendrix. Tupac is not even half the songwriter, musician, nor legend.

Mainly because Hendrix was the father of Heavy Metal. Tupac was merely the father of a couple of crack babies.

ur comparing two totally different genres of music....dont...theres no point ur argument is pointless to this thread...the fact is tupac in respect of hip hop was prolly the best thing that came out of it...and lived a huge life...go see the documentary...very well done

now i remember...its u smokeape...ur the one i wanted to add my top 10 hate list in that one thread a while ago. lolz...ur ignorance is just amazing. anyway...i liked tupacs stuff. He is a good writer, rapper, musician and poet. I dont know how he'd compare to the all time legends. But i liked his stuff. As a person, i could never really know....none of us ever hung out with him to know him. All we can learn from is the stuff thats out today. Only way to know a man is to be him. No1 has any right to judge. As tupac said, "Only god can judge me"

Let me say a few words here...

Those of you who think the people that release tupacs unreleased material are making tons of money off of it are just being ignorant. Tupacs mother has rights to 100 % of unreleased tupac material, and the Death Row only has rights to a few of tupac songs, and the songs that they have rights to are the ones that they release over and over again (thus remix albums and ect) and the fans dont like them at all. See for yourselves Here

Tupacs mother is the one that makes the money. She handpicks and releases all his material for the fans and ect through her own company Amaru records.

Another comments about his lyrics being all about bitches and hoes is just ignorant. Theres a deeper meaning to them behind all of that. Example:

2Pac - Bury Me A G is a song about his proclaimed "Thug Life", growing up in the ghetto, seeing what he's seen wether it be girls, drugs, money, ect. He sais "Bury me a G" because of what he's been through.

2Pac - Shit Don't Stop is a song about how much the world is messed up (proverty, ect) and remains rapid and needs to change.

2Pac - Pour Out A Little Liquor is an ode to the friends he's lost to the "ghetto / thug life".

Here's an excert from one of his poems:

When your hero falls from grace, all fairy tales are uncovered
Myth exposed and pain magnified, the grace pays uncovered
He told me to be strong, but I confused to see it so weak
You say never to give up, and it hurts to see what comes to be
When your hero falls soley the stars, and so does the reception of tomorrow
Without my hero, theres only me alone, to deal with my sorrow
Your heart ceases to work, and your soul is not happy at all
What are you expected to do, when your only hero falls

[Afeni Shakur - over singing]
As long as some suffer, the river flows forever
As long as there is pain, the river flows forever
As strong as a smile can be, the river will flow forever
And as long as you are with me, we'll ride the river together..
..And as long as you are with me, we'll ride the river together

[singing - over chanting]
We'll ride.. the river together, as long as.. you are with me
The river.. will flow forever, as long as.. you are with me
The river.. will flow forever, as long as.. you are with me

JaY

I saw it last night and it was good. However, I really would have been happier if they talked about his poetry (not his music, but the books he wrote) more. Also, it would have been cool if they were to discuss his poetry classes at Berkley and his center of arts which is in Oakland I believe. But a good documentary, Pac is the shit.
