I started liking dance music about 5 years ago with Prodigy "Fat of the land" and Chemical brothers "Dig your own hole". Traded like 10 used cds for those two and from there I just started finding more music like it and then I learned that the music i really liked was trance all along.

Thank god I found electronic music cuz I used to listen to mainstream crap under the assumption that was what i liked (boy was i wrong).

hah, my story is interesting.
I've always lived in NY, When i was young I used to go to greece every summer to see family, and they had a channel which I can't find there anymore called SevenX, and they had a segment where they played badass electronic music. This must have been in 1995. Then when i would be in America I couldn't find any electronic music, so I listened to Rap/Rock during winter, and EDM during summer. Then in 1997 my older brother started going to all the raves around the tristate area, and I would copy his Frankie bones mixtapes. Between all those years I listened to Drum and bass, Hardcore, gabba, and in 1999 I saw Pvd at twilo (i was 16) and fell in love with trance. 2000 I began spinning, and late 2002 i got into Prog, and now im a big Techno fan.
But I still listen to ALL the music I once listened to, Rap, Punk Rock, Techno, Trance, Prog, Hardcore, Hardstyle. I love music in every form it comes and I dont criticize others for what they like!

I've been listening to music for about... 6 years (sad I know, started Freshman year of HS) and now I'm a sophomore in college, but I started listening to electronic music in like... junior/senior year in HS transition... so like 3 years or so.

Ever since I heard S-xpress, it was a house song very popular in the UK around 1988 ... so I could say I've been in electronic music for 15 years

well since about 1997 i started listening to prodigy and they totally sucked me in. the 1st prodigy cd i got stayed on repeat in my cd player for a very long time. then i started going to some small local underground parties and became totally addicted..then i started getting flyers for more parties...my 1st huge party was april foolz 2 in april 1998, the 1st 2 years in the scene was all about going to parties, dancing and having fun, there was alot i didn't know about the different types of EDM, as long as i had some beats to dance to i was happy, then in 1999 i started going to club space in philly, and they used to have alot of trance dj's spinning there...john shah every weekend and x-dream like once a month, well i heard "out of the blue" and "1999" and that was it, from that point on iv'e been a huge trance junkie. it took over my life and i love it!

It seems like Prodigy got a lot of people into trance. I wonder when their next album is coming out.

started with 2 unlimited, then prodigy, praga khan and some others (does anybody remember the "hit the decks" mix albums?) i think i listened to scotch - disco band before that but i didnt really know what it was. (electronic music) then i had a period of punkrockmusic, skate-hardcore that kind of stuff before returning in the late nineties to discover it again through picotto, tiesto, system f etc. these days i listen to trance in general but i can feel the housemusic pulling me more and more. but i havent forgotten where i started, i still play praga khan - injected with a poison if i need to cheer myself up
