That made me think of something.
If all the active tranceaddict board members were stranded on a desert island a la Lord of the Flies, I wonder what groups would form? I bet we would factionalize based on certain DJ allegiances, first and foremost, with genre preferences secondary.
The next question, of course, would be what groups come to violence first (assuming no one set up a rule of law). Which would eventually come to dominate? How many would be killed in the process?
Okay, that enough out of me.
hahahha that's great...
i would say they would break up into 4 tribes to start with...Tiesto tribe, pvd tribe, armin tribe, and prog tribe (really its all the same hahahaha j/k). then their might be the emergence of a harder trance/techno tribe and they'd be the first to start violence. their would be a slow trend for the armin, pvd, tiesto tribes to find allegiance in the prog tribe, especially as more and more trancers joined, and slowly would gain control of the island. until of course, then there is a revolt among the prog tribe do to overpopulation and then trance groups reform and break apart...and so it continues...
i obviously need to go to bed...good night everyone...

Great idea, Cobalt Only problem is the numbers in each tribe would be so askew that the ASOT tribe would easily wipe out all the others
armin pwns. I think he should play a darker set once in a while though.

Personally, this is just a case of the tall poppy syndrome, any aussie will know what that means. I myself dont think his latest productions have been up to par with his older tracks, but i think people expect every track to be better then the last, or they compare it to that stomping track he made years ago.
If he stayed like he did 5 years ago, people would get bored and say its the same old. If he tries something new, like tiesto has done everyone will jump on the "wtf is tiesto playing bangwagon".
I think the only valid reason why you would/could critise him, would be based on what he plays out in the clubs. I have seen many djs in my time and i still think he is the most animated and crowd savvy then any other that i have seen.
*runs off singing.... All aboard....... the bandwagon*

If Armin had managed to create something as powerful as say Alibi - Eternity again while at the same time experimenting like he did with Fuel To Fire, his earlier house tracks or Sunburn, I sure as hell wouldn't complain. But since all the ASOT squaddies start wailing the minute Armin tries to play or create something else than shite and stale ASOT garbage, that isn't gonna happen.

So basically, this is about the people who listen to ASOT
and the songs he plays on it, as opposed to what he plays out in the clubs.

It's about the fact that his fans won't let him experiment and do different stuff. Of course, if Armin had had a shred of sense for artistic development he wouldn't give a shit what they say and make different things anyway, but that's obviously not the case.

Well i think pvd caters for all his fans, and this thread is obviously doubting armins ability to climb out of his ASOT pigeon hole he's created for himself atm.

exactly...what it really comes down to is too many people want stupid songs that are boring as hell. if people had better taste in music and bought only good records instead of the cheesey tunes they fill their record crates with...we wouldn't have this problem...
