I'd agree with bliss'. There has to be some interest and general signs of life from the customer, otherwise you're just dragging down someone's already painfully boring and underpaid day.

Also note: People tend to act favorably to those who smile. It's strange.

degree in intergrity...go fuck yourself.

Of course, it is a salesperson's job to ask you if you need help but if that salesperson pushes you and hounds your ass till you feel so uncomfortable that you don't want to buy anything, then I believe the salesperson is as fault not the customer. That was my example at Moores, I went into with the idea to buy a suit and I was going to buy a suit but when the salesperson keep hounding me and bothering me, I lost interest and left the store. I bought the suit at another store and the salesperson lost my business, their fault. The best salespeople walk a fine line between hounding but not pissing you off.

You're missing the point. Fault wasn't being argued salesperson vs. customer, it is salesperson vs. management. Don't chastize (implicitly or explicitly) because they weren't trained properly.

go tell mgmt, "your salespeople suck, and it's your fault, therefore, I'm going somewhere else to spend my $350". with those actions, you get a discount, a new training regimen (of some sort), and a thank you from the manager.

mr. business degree, if you learn one thing from all this, learn this:

DO NOT ADDRESS THE SOLUTIONS, PREVENT THE PROBLEM.

I am always more than nice to people I deal with, so long as they are nice to me. I find that because I am a lot older than I appear, (if you see me in real life, I look like I'm 14,) and I carry my self in the manner an adult would, I think people assume I am an arrogant youngster. So, in turn I am talked down to, and a lot of the time, dismissed.

I went to bikini village a few weeks back to get my self a new bikini (DUH)! Anyways, I walked in and asked for help, and the girls behind the counter were like "sure sweety, here's a room to change in." After I was finished, I came out and asked to put the bikini on hold. They said that I needed a credit card, and asked if one of my parents would come in and use one of theirs for me. I turned to the girl and said "no that's ok, I don't live with my parents, so I can use mine."

She looked at me weird, then looked at the credit card and said "this is yours?" I said, "yes it is, I'm 18."

She then started to tell me about how they thought I was only 14 or 15, and were just humoring me. SHE EVEN SAID THAT! In fact, the girl who told me that, was younger than me. I laughed it off, but this isn't something new. I recieve this type of treatment all of the time, and it drives me crazy!

Sometimes I am tempted to walk into a store, announce that I am 18, have my own apartment, my own credit card, and I would prefer to be treated as such. Or at least have a sign saying, "I AM NOT 14 YEARS OLD!"

I suppose it isn't their faults, but it just goes to show how younger people are disrespected. I don't like the way most businesses handle their teenage buyers, and often, teenagers are those who spend the most. Think about it, 14, 15, 16 year olds are working, but have NOTHING to spend their money on. So, it goes directly to clothes, and other shit they don't necessarily need.

This has usually been my experience with customer service, so obviously I am not pleased, and have very little good to say about it. I know that it has nothing to do with my behaviour towards them, because no matter how nice, or not, I am still treated the same.

JMO!
