I agree with chesco. There is no doubt in my mind that Buffon is the best goalkeeper in the world.
Italy also have keepers like Toldo, Peruzzi and Cudicini, all of whom I think would go straight in to any of the other teams but Spain and Germany.

A) the shot wiltord hit that went under toldo was from a near impossible angle and should have easily been dealt with. (granted he did play well for the majority of the tournament, he made the mistake that lost us the cup)

B) Buffon never made one mistake in the world cup. The fact that italy had 4 disallowed goals throughout the tournament, was the reason we didn't get any further in the WC.

C) Gianluigi Buffon is widely regarded as the best keeper in the world. And not because he's shite, it's actually because he's rather good, even better than toldo.

It would be rather idiotic to place the blame on 4 disallowed goals. There are other factors, and one of them was the goalkeeper. Buffon is overrated.

listen mate don't talk about things you don't understand.

The disallowed goal against south korea forced the game into injury, then that korean guy scored (no fault of buffon's)

The other disallowed goals in the group stages meant we were given a harder draw in the knock out stages.

Buffon never made one error in the world cup that I can recall.

Toldo however made the glaring error in the last minute of the game against france in european championship. Wiltord scored when toldo should have easily fielded his shot. the defenders done their job by pushing wiltord out wide, toldo did not do his job because he let in an easy shot.

The fact is Buffon is superior to toldo in every way that a keeper can be, he is better at shot stopping, better at crosses, he's a better kicker, he is much calmer under pressure and one thing he does not do is run out the goals in the way toldo does when there is an incident (often resulting in him getting booked).
