well, personally, i didn't enjoy. i think i'm in the same boat as MrS in saying i stayed to try and get my moneys worth. i never really was a tiesto fan and never saw him live, but thought i'd give him a chance.

I've seen tiesto in the past... I think 2 or three times over the years. And I can say the best I saw him was in Holland like 3+ years ago... was amazing.
Just sucks he seems to have taken on other, for lack of another word, priorities in his dj'ing career.

(BTW, had the money been there I would have gone to this just for the atmosphere / crowd .. don't get me wrong )

He smashed one of his records and then continued to play some good tracks, but seemed to be more interested in talking to people and concentrating on those girls who were up there, barely having the next song on cue before the current track ran out. Better set overall than Armin (though hearing Communication was great then) but Armin was a bit friendlier with the fans after his set. Then again I'd probably be concentrating on groupies too if I were the #1 DJ in the world and not #3,294,931.

i also noticed at the end of the night he seemed to be paying more attention to the groupies by the dj booth

i agree that it wasn't worth the $40 entrance fee - but i still had a good time, because i had very low expectations - i think the peeps that had high expectations (because he's supposedly #1) were disappointed in the night

Oh wow I'm so fucking hungover. Spent shitloads of money drinking yesterday at the gay pride parade / afterwards. Drinking from 12 - 12 on a sunday and blacking out is bad news. So is having your shirt taken off and having lots of men taking pictures of you Haha it was fun anyways.

Okay so review of Tiesto - getting VIP was a total waste since my friends and I were up there for like 10 minutes all night, I didn't even use all of my drink coupons. Everyone was getting really restless during the opening DJ which is understandable, but IMO he wasn't very impressive anyways. He was playing better tracks earlier on then kinda killed the vibe of the whole place up until he played Tomaz vs Filterheadz - Sunshine which was a fucking stormer. Then that breaks track to set the mood for Tiesto.

So-so effort by "#1 DJ." Spent way too much time just fucking around talking to people in the booth and didn't really interact with the crowd for shit until a bit at the end. Total primadonna. He played some really good tracks which I would like to get ID'd and his mixing was decent so I was impressed. I went in with no expectations and I actually had a really fun time. Talked to a lot of random people who actually knew the music and weren't there just to be trendy which was nice. Spent a lot of the time in front of the back right speaker which in retrospect was a terrible idea. I could go on and on with my critique of this night but I won't bore y'all with it

Opened with
Starkid - Crayons (Leama & Moor Remix)
Peter Martin - Perfect Wave (Ridiculous!)
James Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Mix) (!?!)
Tiesto & Josh Gabriel ft. Esmee Bor Stotijn - Walking On Clouds
Tiesto ft BT - Love Comes Again
Tiesto - A Tear in the Open
Tiesto - Adagio (Encore) (Cut it off before the break - ******)
Tiesto - Nyana
Lightscape - Inner Warmth
Portishead - Roads (Sultan & Tone Depth Remix)
Randy Katana - In Silence (Txitxarro Remix) (Died)
Tiesto - Traffic
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know
Moonrush - Risky Business (Arc In The Sky vs. Atlantis Remix)
Cosmic Gate pres. Different Concept - Ultra Curve
Stephen J Kroos - Phantazmz
Mojado - Seņorita
Beastie Boys vs Matthew Dekay - Intergalactic Planetary
Push - Electric Eclipse (Tranqua remix)
8 Wonders - The Morning After (Thrillseekers Remix)
Estuara - Tales From The South (Track of the Night)

Pissed he didn't play White Room.

I remembered more at the time but after a weekend of getting just stupid I kinda forgot a few, they'll come to me as time passes.

Hope you all had a good time. Kristin check your PMs.

From the reviews, I take it that I made the right choice by going to PVD in NYC...f'ing incredible Probably better musically than anything I've seen including his Vision set.

blah

Well I was a little unimpressed with the #1 DJ in the world. He started off great I mean Nothing(93 returning mix!!!!!), but not long after that it was down hill, dont get me wrong it was awesome hearing love comes again, traffic and forever today in the club. I think he got really fucked up and wasnt even beat-matching half the mixes. There were also girls in the booth all over him.

Ill have to agree with MR. S and Everything0 about how packed it was, I had like 5 people ask if "thats tiesto" about the openers, who I wasnt feeling at all. Lots of people just standing on the dance floor. Its cool they were recording the show though. I didnt see anybody from the board, I was looking to say hi to you UWM, but Ill see you at the next show.

After the show I did secure the record he smashed, it was Fictivision Vs Phynn "Escape", I did get it signed, but he would not sign my poster or come out for pictures, he just sat behind the booth with his grey goose and his lady friends. From watching his Dvds and reading stuff form these boards I would have thought him to be much friendlier, but I think alot of his fans were dissapointed with this show. I guess being number one has gotten to his head. Oh well Armin and Ferry are still awesome and very friendly Ill stick to them. Even with all of this I still had a great time thanx to Red Bull and Absolute and the Bar tender behind the DJ booth only charges 11 for doubles!!

Ill post some pics soon
Neil

I didn't know he busted a vinyl....that must have been after I left.

He did have the same vinyl on the right hand TT for the better part of the first hour of his set wihch he would let just spin and then occasionally put the needle back to the start and move it back and forth, as if to mimic actually doing something.

He also leaned over and appeared to lick the needle on that same turntable early in his set.

I just realized looking through my wallet that I had forgotten the 2 "Free entry before 12" passes that the nice lady with the clipboard taking email addresses gave me before I got inside....so I guess I will eventually get my money's worth out of the show after all.

Be Cool!

Well Armin, Ferry & PVD were certainly more friendly when I saw them and it was an expensive night, but nevertheless it was still a good time and taught me never to drink as heavily playing tracks as I do while watching others. One thing that I do appreciate is that Tiesto does play a few songs that he produced. It's great to hear new songs & have diversity , but it's also nice to hear a few songs from the producer. They seem to get into it a little more and everyone's bound to know it. Even a smashed Tiesto seemed to enjoy playing Traffic!

lots of mixed reviews on tiesto at vision. i saw him at bleu the next night and i must say it was complete set. he really seemed into the crowd, mixing was good, and track selection was stellar. tiesto seems to be running hot and cold lately, and he does get smashed alot at his shows.

It's good to go to stuff like this with no expectations because then you can't have a bad time

There's one record I really want ID'd it's feckin pissing me off I've had the melody in my head since Saturday.

I'll say it again though the guy who was opening right before Tiesto pretty much sucked. The dancefloor had no energy by like 1:15.

Well, it was my first time seeing Tiesto and my first time to Vision and I'd have to say it was a pretty good nite. I can't rate Tiesto's performace that accurately seeing as I only stayed for maybe an hour of his set. My girlfriend was feeling to well so we decided to jet at about 3 or so. The openers were good and I was getting a pretty good vibe from most of the stuff they played, however, I think I got asked at least 5 times if tiesto was playing. After about the last time (which happened to be a time when lacosta was on the decks) I almost asked the person if they thought Tiesto was some little red headed guy.

I went VIP which I was a but disappointed with having had little to no use for the VIP area (aside from the uncrowded rest room) and I managed to drop 2 of my drink tickets at some point in the nite which was a bit of a downer. Overall the nite was good, I got a poster off of the 3rd level and drank a little to much and danced and had fun. A bit of a shame I couldn't have stayed the whole nite but maybe next time. Oh and one question, do the headliners always come on that late at Vision??
