by the way ive been able to send attachments over 10mb, try it out.

meh...i use outlook..

can you run gmail through outlook? i have gmail but i hate using a webbrowser to check it....so lame

well, I just tried to send an 11MB zip file and it bounced back with an error message.

What's the purpose of having 2GB of storage in my inbox when the biggest email I can receive is 10MB? Heck, I can have that with my Rogers account as well, no need for signing up for gmail...

What does google say about it though? , I know they don't like 3rd parties hooking up to gmail directly.

Yeah, technically it's illegal to use gmail for purposes other than e-mail.

I haven't heard any comments about this from anyone though. Personally, I don't think that this kind of use of Gmail is too big of an issue for Google now to worry about it too much.
