Swamper, I agree with you entirely about the fact that the event forum is a necessity, and helps keep the spamming and bumping and general abusing that promoters are famous for under control, and it was the recent glut of that (WITH THE PROMOTERS TYPING IN CAPS) which brought the event forum about.
Why can't a strip of text stating I am a promoter, and the clubname/logo simply be there. I agree that allowing pics or event advertising/listings there would leave it open to thread bumping and spam posting so ppl can see it, but I doubt the promters here would post to bump some faint text in their sigs. All the new rules and structure are a great way to keep things under control, but the vice is a little too tight. As much as there are money grubbing bastards out there, there are people who are a part of the scene for other reasons, and when it comes down to it, it's all one big circle that if done right and fairly, everyone benefits.
The rules are needed, but perhaps just a small compromise can be met is all I ask. We need a bit of breathing room.
