One other thing I think is important is how much fun a dj is perceived as having behind the decks. I always enjoy watching a dj groove around- particularly their face as it tells alot about what they are feeling for the track, the crowd, the experience, etc.. You play for yourself, and for the crowd - there's something amazing about sharing your selections with a whole room. Looking like you're enjoying youself get's high marks on my score card. And without having "seen" many interstaters, I guess it's hard to enter a fair nomination.

LOL @ this thread turning into yet another Melbourne Trance DJ debate
My thoughts; Steve Strangis is def one of my favourites, then in Sydney, Diggs and Morro and Cam!!
This thread really is asking for debate though as a question such as 'who's the best DJ on au.ta' is not something that can really be measured on this forum as there are so many personal opinions that are influenced by personal friendships etc! We have so many great DJ's on this forum and so many up and coming DJ's with great potential, lets just celebrate this, celebrate the fact that trance is alive and growing!!

There is only one way to solve the problem of not playing all the anthems etc. That is don't download sets.
Right now I'm fully into breaks . . . I've never heard a breaks set, except what I've heard at clubs. I much prefer to just listen to tracks and buy what I like, and what I think would go off.
People are always going to be influenced by the djs they listen to, as they are listening to enjoy it, and people play what they enjoy.
Theres also alot of chatter about people playing stuff they don;t like purely to please a crowd. Sure there may be some loosers like that, but have pity for the fools, as they are the ones who have to practice listening to these songs they don;t even like.
Anyway, I havent heard many djs from au.ta, but I can easily say Slade and Cam are the best I've heard. Slade's sets are awsome, even if he is now playing like DJ Sammy.
And on a note of shameless self promotion here is one of my short interchanges between 2 breaks tracks with a noice sample I inserted as well.
youse be all knowin dat me be playin da fatest unda grownd to0ns man! mE no playin dis commercial shit anfems bra!

PeoPLe go to clubs to hear the songs they like...if it fits into a dj's sound and they enjoy it...then why not?
DJ x Plays a big anthem...lets say 'White room'. Then punter Y who has never heard DJ x says "Oh I love this track...that DJ likes the same stuff as me...I like this guy"...bang new fan.
not saying anthem sets are the way to go..but anthems gotta be PLayed atm.
very true
WHen i play in a club i gotta drop the od big tune, if i played my full on J00F style then people wouldn't remember my set... why? because the big tunes stick out. You just gotta choose decent anthems, not As the rush cums
