I've gone through this exact situation myself. None of my friends from home party with the exception of 1. I have to dance around the subject. We constantly have the "I'm wrong, my scene is bullshit and only losers party" fight. No joke. They became very abusive and it really hurt. I know my friends care about me, but they don't respect or understand me as a person. Hence why I don't really hang with them all that often anymore. I don't freak at them because they want to go out to a bar and get loaded every Friday and Saturday night because I respect their decisions and really what they do in their spare time is their business. Like I said I avoid the subject when I do see them because really it's not worth fighting over. |
You seemed to have gotten the bad shake with your non-party going friends. I'd been going to raves since high school, and everytime I told my friends I'd get the standard 'everyone's fucked up there', 'drugs are bad mmmmkay' speeches and I just kept telling them I went to have fun and not to do drugs [which was the truth at the time] and as skeptical as they were, they still accepted that I went and had a damn good time doing it. When finally I did convince one of my friends to come to a deep dish party with me, he was instantly converted and in turn, was the person who convinced me to try e. Nowadays, e is a rarity for me, as I still have that supreme appreciation of the music and enjoy going sober, with the drug only as an enhancement for those rare nights when everything is gonna be like Danny T at boa.
