And lastly...browse the forums, all the ones you can read . Although there is a wealth of stupid crap that people post, there are also many excellent discussions of music, termanology, shows, producing, artists, and anything else you could possibly be interested in. You just have to filter through the junk to find it.

good luck

Atari Addict is right. Infact this thread is a good example. A few gems of good advice smothered in a healthy dose of dick measuring and throw away comments.

My gf pointed out to me the reason why trance can be so compeditive but on the flipside so unified across the entire globe is that its all about the emotions. The music is emotional and that attracts people that are passionate and (not to broadly generalise), but in my experiences usually quite deep thinkers. Trance lovers really have a big emotional investment in their music. I'm not saying this isn't the case with other music, because most music is designed to give that sort of reaction but trance really takes that to the extremes. Its specifically designed to completely fuck your head up with the most amazingly beautiful or twisted buildup possible. No holds barred... no exceptions.... well except maybe progressive... but thats not really trance is it?... hehe... jk

So if your ever browsing the boards and encounter <> telling you that your an affront to all things trancey and that you should fuck off back to watching saturday morning RnB hits, just because your asked who DJ Sammy was, its not his fault.. he was just born that way

learning about trance, and i mean REALLY learning about trance, is like researching a school paper. like researching a school paper, only there are no official resources, 99% of the unofficial resources are wrong, and any teacher who could tell you about it with accuracy either hates you, is hated by you, or is long retired. so have at it.

I'm Italian, my real name is Andrea. Here in Italy there is an horrible dance music culture...
most songs are similar to happy melodies over simple (very simple) kicking bassline. It's a SIMPLE music to do. Many songs have also stupid lyrics and they are all similar each other! I don't know if you ever listened to it, but I can tell you that very much people hate it! It's considered (often rightly) as a music genre for idiot people.
I think you call it as "Italodance"... the only one kind of dance music that is diffused here in italy is House music.
It's a drammatic situation here in Italy. I like trance so much that I can tell you that I LOVE IT, but as you surely know trance music is quite unknown in Italy, and it's very difficult to find trance CD's for me.
My favourite trancer is Dj tiesto. As I told you before it's difficult to know trancers, trance situation and find CD's... the result is that I only know a few of trancers... I like songs of Armin van Buuren, Motorcycle, Andain, Ferry corsten, Thrillseekers, Paul van Dik, Paul Oakenfold, Dj tatana. I like trance very much but I don't have a trance-culture...
I'm sorry for my bad english-speaking, for this reason I found it hard to explain what I want to tell you.
I hope that I will find some help in this forum!

I think that this is a very interesting thread, I will follow it to learn some about the born and the grown of trance music.

Thank you all!
You're great!

Ciao!

So what exactly is "cheese"?

You've probably noticed people throwing the term around these days like their dirty underwear, but what are they really talking about?

Here are some threads that will give you an idea...

- The meaning of Cheese, with regards to Trance today and before
- Examples of trance cheese
- looking for some lame ass cheeze

This site is also a helpful guide:

but really the best guide is listening experience

+1 on the last line.
