there's one in downtown Brooklyn or something likewise...i've eaten in several of them but the one in Soho is still my favourite, including it's atmosphere, food, music, etc.

There is this really dope spot by my apartment in upper west side and is extremely affordable..

La Caridad (Cuban Food)
w78th St and Broadway

Their home style Beef Stew with Yellow Rice and Black/Red beans can be had all for under $8. It's a good hearty meal and isn't a real ritzy place. It's been there over 35years and still going. The food is great and I highly recommend it.

You don't have to dress up to go here and don't expect table cloth and fine china. Then again it isn't a hole-in-the-wall type of resturante!
