I'm just sick of seeing "OMG CH00N!!!" being said about every single mediocre track played on said radio shows, and then whine about DJ Sammy being cheesy. To anyone who does it; fuck off. Your taste in music sucks and so do you.

you are missing my point. all i am saying if it bothers you that much that other people are enjoying it, maybe you are in the wrong place. take the time you spend on bashing to find something that YOU enjoy.

Most of the stuff he produces and spins is Melodic/uplifting trance pitched down to 132-134 BPM range. I certainly wouldn't call these tracks progressive by any means. Progressive house and trance is produced by guys like Matthew Dekay, Steve Porter, Madoka, Bart Van Wissen and Michael Burns. Not guys like Rico Sorez, Perry O'Neil and Markus Schulz.

Markus and Armin are doing more bad then good for the genre IMO. Sure lots of up and coming producers can get their tracks played by these guys but the genre doesn't progress since they mostly play the same old melodic trance tracks.

What makes a tune mcprog?

Simple:

Step 1 should be "send it to GDJB so Markus can play it"

a)Work Really Hard On A Tune You Think Is Progressive Then Send It To Markus Schulz.

Step 2 Markus Schulz plays it for several weeks on GDJB which little mcprog addicts pee their pants yelling tune of the year.

Step 3 Markus Passes the tune to Armin Van Buuren and AVB features it on his New Tunes selections

Step 4 AVB plays it on ASOT For 50 weeks in a row and literally beats the tune inside out.

Step 5 Get it signed to avb's label (e.g. Interstate)
McProg Seal of Approval.

Current McProg Pioneers:
Markus S.
Perry Oneil
AVB

Current Tune Being Transformed into McProg Victim:
Interstate- I found you.

Conclusion:
Markus needs to stay the hell away from Progressive

ya forgot one, they rather ditch the innovative boundaries of music for the same ol crap, same ol everything, quick cashcrab

funny as heck mario

Wow...it never ceases to amaze me how fucking stupid some of the people in this forum can be when trying to fight against something that is beyond them.

Trance is the biggest thing in EDM right now...so USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! Why do you think guys like Perry or Ozgur are producing so many tracks with the same sound? Yes, because people dig that sound. If people dig that sound, does it necesarilly mean it is cheese? No. Not everything that's popular is cheese...get that into your heads.

I'm a huge huge U2 fan. I used to visit forums like these for U2 before but got so fed up with the attitude, similar to the one seen in these forums, where every song that became a hit, it was automatically too commercial for everyone there. All of a sudden you have U2 fans requesting setlists for concerts with songs that probably only 5% of the crowd in a concert venue have heard. That's a ridiculous attitude and people who think like this are simply put, pathetic.

I agree that not every tune in GDJB is good. But nor is every track played by Sander, Diggers or Zabiela in their sets. I mean, come on...I've heard some really bad tunes that are labeled as "pure progressive", yet because they are dark and trippy people label them as amazing. With greater quantity comes less quality. You have to understand that for EDM to progress, we need to put up with 7 crappy songs for every 1 great song. It's the same in every genre, but then again, that makes us appreciate great songs more.

Anyone who uses popularity alone as their standard of judgment for a track is just plain ignorant. There are a few people here who do this, yes. But most of the people who dislike the McProg movement do so based on the quality of what they hear, not how many people like it. They are frustrated that so many people seem unable to recognize poor quality, not simply that so many people like it.

right...but labeling everything that's played on GDJB as mcprog is inaccurate.
