Got to the men arena at about 10:45, saw the queue, nearly cried at the thought of waiting 2 hours on my own (my friends had guestlist). Cue the first of my friends two legendry queue hopping moves of the night... 'Hi, i'm reveiwing the night for IDJ magazine, me and my boyfriend have guestlist, but my friend doesn't, can you let him in with us as i dont want to leave him out here on his own'. Sorted, managed to skip a queue that had at least 750 people in it. Once inside, we were horrified straight away at the amount of chav pikeys that had invaded a great party, they should at least be banned, preferably shot. We walked round the outside of the main arena and came to first stage, strangely placed in the middle of the corridor, bit annoying as you had to fight through the crowd to get past. As we carried on towards the cloakroom we heard Binary Finary - 1998, and A&B - No one on earth. Came to the cloakroom, and the queue stretched what seemed like halfway round the arena. There were two people working at the cloakroom, to deal with about 10,000 clubbers, nice one Gods, you managed to fuck that right up. Anyway, we managed to bribe aomeone near the front to put our jackets in for us, queue jumping mission number two accomplished . Got to the bar, and found that the drinks were quite reasonably priced, £8 for two beers and a bottle of water, shame they stopped serving alcohol a 1AM.
Walked through into the main arena, and I was blown away by the sight that greeted me, a sight only rivalled by what i saw at Love Parade last year. We were in an ice hockey rink (i think), about 100 feet above the dance floor, WOW, what a sight. There were teired seats all around it, which were really good for chilling out on, you could hear the music well enough, but it wasn't so loud that you had to shout to be heard.
A&B were just finishing as we got in, Adam sheridan stepped up, was really looking forward to his set, he played really well when i last saw him at heaven last year. I wasn't dissapointed either, he played some quality tracks, I remember... Reflekt - Need to Feel Loved, Adam Sheridan - Terminal Velocity, Marcos - But For A Day (MvL remix), NU NRG - Dreamland 2005(not sure which remix, but i think it was his own), Adam Sheridan - Crescendo and he finished with Lektrik. Time for Judge Jules, he started off quite well, playing a vocal version of nalin & Kane - Beachball (I think it's called cruisin'), Ernesto vs Bastian - Dark Side of the Moon, Cosmic Gate feat. Jan Johnston - Bilingual Freefall and kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream(this tune can never be overplayed in my opinion). Time for God to step up, don't really remember much of his set to be honest, the only tunes I remember were PvD - Nothing But You, PvD - For An Angel(MvL Remix) and PvD - The other side, maybe thats because i was too busy chatting to a really attractive girl, Who unfortunately was with her boyfriend . Marco V was next, and played quite hard and techy, which is no bad thing. I remember him playing Sander van Doorn - Bling Bling (SvD remix i think), Marco V - Automanual and I think I heard Mojado - El Toro. We went to check out the Goodgreef arena during his set, and found out that you had to cross the main dance floor to get to it, rather stupid really, they could have just opened up a stairway on the other side of the arena. Anyway, we got there to find that there was a huge queue to get in to the arena, so we didn't bother, didn't really want to listen to hard house anyway. Went home at about 4:15, so didn't get to see Eddie, but never mind
Overall, i had a really good night, think the orginisers of these big events need to sort out the queueing problems though, rather offputting, I feel sorry for the people that had to queue for an hour to get in, and another hour to put their coats away, and another 20 minutes if they wanted to go into the goodgreef arena.
