The same repetitive ramblings about various clubs |
Do you have anything at all to go by, other than your convoluted logic which says that a successful club automatically treats its customers well (and vice versa)?
Let me spell it out for you Max:
Success <> Customer Service
We can see examples of that in MANY well-known companies. Bell, Rogers, almost all the banks, Dell, Toyota, Sony... the list goes on.
The Guvernment is successful because during the 1999-2004 years, it had somewhat of a monopoly on the Toronto club scene. After rave died and massive city venues were banned, the Guvernment was really the only place capable of hosting very large dance music events.
Now the Toronto club scene is starting to get its act together. Boa is out there and kicking butt. System Soundbar is doing upgrades to one thing or another every 6 months. The Docks is starting to throw big parties and seems quite popular as a "rave" venue with Destiny and other promoters. And a bunch of new clubs are springing up all over the city like Arc and Republik.
This all happened within the past year. We haven't really seen the effects of it yet.
Rest assured, Guv is going to start losing its success very rapidly to other clubs, and it will be BECAUSE of its shit attitude toward customers. Sure, it will still make money because it's the modern cultural icon of sketchy Asians and plastic barbie girls everywhere, but unless your definition of "success" is based solely on profits then that's not going to be enough. Either they're going to have to use the Kool Haus *A LOT* more in the near future or they are going to become just another dirty downtown sketch hole that "in the know" people don't give a shit about.
You can contradict and badger me all you want, but unless you have logic to support your argument then nobody is going to listen to you. When the only thing you can think of to say to Boa is for them to play more trance and serve booze, it clearly highlights your immature and jaded outlook on clubbing. Don't believe me? Fine, we'll wait and see - I am sure that once again you will be proven wrong and once again you'll come up with lame excuses to weasel out of admitting it.

If THE GUVERNMENT has such a shitty attitude towards customers then how could it have survived for 8+ years and why would GUV make the effort to keep things fresh and top tier for its customers DJ wise and facility wise? People were complaining about bouncers kicking people out for smoking and that was put to an end with one of the guys who was going way overboard getting fired and warnings handed out and staff meetings held with management dealing with it directly.
You previously stated that the bartenders and bouncers were assholes at GUV but I think that bartenders being assholes and bitches is an industry wide problem as opposed to a GUV problem due to the nature of the position and having to rely mainly on tips and obviously everyone isn't going to tip you and this will cause stress and bitterness from bartenders city wide.2 guys who worked at THE GUVERNMENT at one point were Zark and Ralph who became 2 of the top promoters in the city with ZRF and PROJECT ORANGE and also have their own club in CENTURY ROOM which is doing very well as well.
As for you saying that the bouncers are assholes at GUV, if this was true then why are there so many ex-GUVERNMENT guys who are now heads of security at other clubs such as Earle Francis (Big Mike from BOA's younger brother)@INSIDE, Kevin@NYC, Gus@VIVA, John T@REPUBLIK, Blake Mitchell@THERAPY who has now moved up to a manager position and Tan Tan@EASY ON THE FIFTH who was also at THE GUVERNMENT at one point and others as well? If Jamil and his staff weren't doing a good job on security then they wouldn't be producing so many head doorman across the city. It all starts from the top down and Jamil is known acoss the city for having great people skills and will be opening up his own club as well and is the best around in my opinion and the fact that he is the highest paid and has brought up and produced so many head's of security around the city and was voted the best doorman 2 years in a row only add to my point.
THE GUVERNMENT has like 35-40 guys working on security on an average night where you have like 4000-500o people and on special events around 50-60 when the KOOL HAUS is opened so with that many guys working, chances are that you aren't going to have every single guy in a good mode especially when considering the nature of the position. Other clubs such as LUCID have about 3000-3500 patrons at most to deal with and yet have 70-80 security working and sometimes pay for more while GUV has more patrons and half the number of security which should give you an idea of how well orginized the GUV security actually is. MUZIK Nightclub which is going to open around the CNE Grounds is apprently going to fit 4000-5000 people and yet will be going with 90 security which is half of what GUV goes with so this once again should give you an idea of how well run and orginized the GUV security is.
When you have a smaller club to deal with then you will have less security and your chances of finding one who is in a bad mood increase due to numbers and odds. Every club is going to have some security and bartenders who are bitches and assholes at one time or another and this is nothing newbut to paint everybody with the same brush is simply not fair.

Maxpain, hardcoretrancer, instead of throwing insults, try arguing with counter-points.
Where in his analogy is Diginut wrong?
The Guv has gone with a businesss plan that caters to a variety of people, with it's multiple siderooms and lounges like The Drink and The Orange Room. These other rooms play different music than edm, allowing the Guv to offer everything you find on Richmond St on a Friday or Saturday night.
I've always compared the Guv to the Joker, or Whiskey Saigon.. They have 3 floors, 3 genres, a mashing of crowds, same principle is in use @ the Guv. Maximum marketablility.
When you have that kind of draw, and such a huge chunk of the market, customer service is something that is going to lack bigtime. Perhaps it's intentional, perhaps it's just because you can't handle large volumes of people in this industry in a mostly positive manner with a staff situation such as that.
You are entitled to like the places you go, and people who haven't enjoyed themselves there are equally entitled to dislike the places they have negative experiences at.
