I always found it amusing that TAs, who listen to some of the fluffiest EDM out there, tend to be some of the most homophobic of dance subcultures.

Be my guest. But it's true. Just trade out the artist names with Eminem and 50 Cent, no one would be able to tell the difference as far as gaybashing in concerned. I blame the youth factor, because many standard trance listeners are rather young and still hold a stigma against gay people, mostly out of inexperience (few come out in high school) and exposure to media stereotypes (which makes otherwise normal gay people not want to come out, for fear of being associated with exaggerated off-the-wall flamer types).
Actually, it's totally wrong. Gay night scenes have always been associated with the heaviest forms of EDM- techno in the 80s and hard dance/NRG in the 90s. To assume that listening to fluffy music is a feminine or gay trait is as stereotypical as any supposed homophobic remark I've seen on this forum.
Musta forgot about house there Sys-J! It was invented by and played for homosexual people at its beginning! But not true techno. Juan Atkins is not homosexual nor did he play his music at gay clubs only, Frankie Knuckles is, and he did! heh.

I'm confused. Your post seems to have no relevance to what I said, and I know and agree with all of it.
I was referring to homophobia within trance, particularly on these forums.

Oh, wait, on reflection I see what you're saying. I didn't realize what part you were replying to.
I'm well aware that there's no necessary corellation between gay culture and the types of EDM associated thereof. I was merely mocking popular perceptions, as it is people here who do have that ignorant association you're talking about who tend to listen to extremely fluffy epic trance.

Nothing fucks me off more than a fan that thinks a DJ can do no wrong. There is a lot of good music out there. How some people can be so easily pleased is beyond my comprehension.

Likewise does Junior Vasquez heretofore; and i'm convinced he had quite a big impact on the NYC scene.
