While the Majority of Americans might not understand it, the American laws that have come in have done nothing but harass innocent people. My brother was the subject of abusive security who even opened a brand new bottle of expensive wine he was taking from canada to england (Stopover in NYC) and they gave him hell for no reason other than 'he might' be a problem. I am totally sympathetic that it's for security but it's OTT. If (and I really hope there isn't) there was another attack, who is to say that it hasn't come from somebody of American nationality who get's through easily when people from Europe or wherever get hell. I always thought that it was 'innocent until proved guilty' but sadly people who are innocent and only want to visit america (in garniers case to please people who love the music) are being put off due to the overhand tactics. bottom line, if anybody is planning to attack the USA i'm sure they'd find a way around this heavy-handedness whereas innocent passers through are treated like scum. no need im sorry guys

yea man, im an american citizen, born here, and when i came back from egypt last summer, they gave us unnecessary searches and shit, while the people who werent even citizens just got to walk right through. many things in this country are fucked up, but like i said (my opinion) i think its the best place to live. about those "random" searches they do at the airports, haha, when we were going to egypt my aunt had all her 12 bags "randomly" searched, haha.

That's bullshit not letting him in... |
he refused to go through standard procedures to get his visa; its not the case that the state dept refused to issue a visa to him or that the border patrol turned him away at the border.

the actual requirements for his visa are actually less onerous than that. even so, he's not getting a plain-vanila tourist visa which are much easier to get, but a temporary worker's visa because, as far as i know, he would have been getting paid at the events.
a private attorney probably told him everything he cited and not a government official. information other than the minimum requirements is helpful, but not necessary. truthfully, i think he may have gotten really bad council, and that's unfortunate, or maybe other things came up and wanted to save face. idunno

border regulations have changed somewhat after 9/11 but for the mnost part, many the of regulations already existed beforehand.
