with a statement like this, i dont think you understood neils post at all.....read again |
I'm not trying to start a lame argument over Tiesto, but I think he implied that no one can touch Tiesto in Energy. He didn't use his name, but he would be contradicting himself otherwise. I would personally prefer to see Sander in the main room to Tiesto, but Sander on the Terrace is even more ideal. The setting just seems to fit better, even though I believe that Sander can bring plenty of energy to the table. Just because it isn't 139 BPM doesn't mean it doesn't carry energy. But semantics aside, it doesn't really matter. Each has a lot to offer to different crowds. I just, personally, care less about PVD and Tiesto anymore. Only way I'll go see them is if it's free or someone else I wanna see is playing. But I have to say that last year's Magik Musik night with Tiesto on the main floor and Sander K on the terrace is an amazing show to bring to the people. Not to mention Ferry playing at 7, but I didn't make it that far.

i agree with this^^^^^...especially the last part about last year's MM party, tiesto was insane and then sander was just as awesome but in a different way...only difference is since that day every time ive seen snader it gets better (all 5 times since)...and the 2 times after i have seen tiesto it has been worse...so much to say that ol tijs just doesnt do it for me at all anymore, he won't be like he used to and i have come to realize that...that doesen't mean he isnt good but different...all dj's must change some over time, the true test is the ones that you continue to enjoy their sound more and more wherever they take it, that's how i have thought about sander since late 2002 during his nubreed time and i am still loving every thing he puts out more and more to this day 3 more days!!!!

Of course Sander couldn't do a Magik Musik night. It's Tiesto's company and it's all trance. He wouldn't want to do it either. As far as energy goes, he can hang, but it's completely different. Like comparing apples to oranges. I've seen Sander blow the roof off places, even though his style is more housy and progressive than it is trancy. On the same token he still drops some trancy tracks here and there, and is responsible for producing a couple of my favorite trance tracks ever (especially My Lexicon). I miss the Tiesto of old, because I find his style to be monotonous now. PVD falls into the same category. |
ive said this a million times before, i agree, they play two totally different sytles, and yes its not fair to compare the two, because its a injustice to them and the musik they represent..so i think you misunderstood my post...i dont mean to sound condscending or arrogant with this remark, but ive seen both these guys more times than anybody on this forum, and itso facto i have a more refined opinion and viewpoint than most....pertaining to space, tiesto's archived main room sets are almost without peer, the only djs that are on his level are some i mentioned in the previous post, and sadly sander is not one of them, and i listen with an objective, trained ear..now sanders terrace sets are a whole nother ball game, because besides maybe morillo, sanchez, nobody really owns the terrace like he does, and that is hard to do, space is a tough, seasoned crowd of clubbers....but concerning energy, that is the main characteristic of trance music, there can be no marginalizing that, and although im not saying that the style that sander spins is not energetic, its not the style that has me jumpin up and down in the air, choking my brother, screaming at the top of my lungs, type energy. i think you get the point. sanders style of musik is to be appreciated on a different level, but i wouldnt call it the hi energy level, why do you think they have festivals titled TRANCE ENERGY, and not HOUSE ENERGY, different genre, diffent textures and sounds and emotions...again not saying his sets lack energy, but intrinsically that is not the overriding feel of his sets..hope this clarifys my position a little better... I LOVE BOTH DJS, i just think at main room space, tiesto on his game in the main room is without peer, the only time i felt the energy meter come close to him was edgar v after pvd in novemeber, i give props where props are due, and sander gets mad props on the terrace, but in the main room i will take tiesto any day of the week, thats my opinion.. peace
