Rio Karma is the best ,,,

1) highest quality audio ... hands down i've compared it to iPod and every single review I have ever read rates it number 1 in this catagory and when it comes to audio devices this is the be all end all of what your buying decision is based on
2) best looking design also the smallest so it's very portable
3) great software
4) compatible with more formats than any other player
5) i only have to recharge the battery once a week and I listen to it often

i didnt read the entire thread, but all that i'll add is that for those that say the iriver plays movies...its at 10fps....and i'll take my 3g 10 gig ipod over most any mp3 player, there is a lot to be said about having the easiest to use menus in the business. i sell these things for a living, and nobody in my store has yet figured out how to access and use everything on the iriver....that says a lot when its a store full of nerds.

because MD ACTUALLY has exceptional sound quality, that exceeds the Rio (dont even THINK about arguing over that, MD's quality is superior to everything out ther, hands down) and now that MD supports MP3 completely, its even more capable of producing good sound.

also, removable battery that costs 10 bucks whch lasts 30 hours on one charge. why wouldnt you want that?

and lastly NOONE will ever need 20gb on the go, EVER. To say such a thing is complete idiocy. No battery in the world in the consumer market will last long enough to play even HALF of the songs uve got.

With MD u got removable media, 1GB per disc, which is plenty, and if u tell me it isnt, your being greedy and making pointless arguements, youll never go through more then 3 gigs of music in a week.

Oh yeah, MD also acts as a storage device.....

And for people in the recording industry, MD as a portable unity in its size has the best sound quality.

I could go on, beleive me, i could....

Some people are just sheep and buy into ipods, but ill agree, rio karma is good, but outdated these days.

I don't like removable media it's a pain to lug around ... I can put my entire mp3 collection on my Rio ... I would have to lug around 20+ minidiscs to do that ... as for music quality .. well that's debatable as you would have to increase the size each song takes on the disc whether it's a HDD or minidisc ... but the Rio is top of the line as far as music quality as HDD jukeboxes go, and I sincerely doubt that anyone could tell the difference, so I would assume they are equal in that dept

if you combine my Rio with my Audio-Technica A500s ... you don't get better than that as far as listening to trance .. the detail, the highs/mids .. effin sweet... not too hot for rock but .. lol .. this ain't a rock forum so I don't think anyone will care about that, including myself
